Missing Knobs on my Peavey Amp.

I have a Peavey xrd 680 s PLUS, which I know is a discontinued model. Over the years it has lost a lot of it's knobs. I don't want to replace it because of this as it works brilliantly. Can you tell me if there is anywhere I can get spare knobs? I have tried all the obvious places I can think of!

That was a dumass response and not helpful. I have the same amp and same problem. If you don't have an answer, own up to it.

Re: Missing Knobs on my Peavey Amp.

Dear Louisa,

Knobs can be replaced by almost a new types. All you have to make sure is if the type of holes it has, knurlled, sloted or plain half moon types. Substitutes with similar size would be the best alternative.

Auto shut off hot

A faulty transistor or IC that has failed, it probably overheats before any other device. You should shut the amp down when it happens, then feel carefully around for the hottest part. I would replace that. Or you can power the amp back up wait till it acts up, then spray that hot part with Servisol Freezer spray. If it comes back on, then you know it's faulty. If not try another part, with the spray, only one at a time.

Peavey XRD 680 wont power up

Fuses blow because of an overload. Generally caused by a short circuit transistor(s) in the power amp section. Easy to spot with an ohm meter it will be like you have touched the test probes together!

I have a peavey Renown 400 model 212 without speakers. What speakers should I install to replace the missing ones?

THe speakers should be a good quality and rated jointly at 1.5 times the power of the amp.

Hi, Peavey Classic Guitar amp , Has NO SOUND

Hi Mike,

If you switch on the amplifier, do you hear nothing at all?
Or do you hear low level noise or hum out of the speaker?
Don't know if you're technician.
If the tubes are glowing, you can measure the high voltage.
Check also fuse 3 and 4, thats the neg. voltage -27V and -14V.

You could also use speakers rated less than 400 RMS provided you dont crank the volume knobs all the way up.
I think the CS400 is 200 Watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms
400 watts bridged

Here's the manual. You'll need acrobat to open it.
