This issue sounds unusual - DC24's reversible wand should simply reattach to the machine in the same way it was removed. The red clip at the front holds it in place.

Which model of Dyson do you have. I am going to guess it may be a DC25. It is a common problem with that model. Let me know and we will see if we can help you.
The detent that is mounted to the inside of the base cover is not working either because the screw holding has broken off or it is worn out. You could also have a worn out fan housing since that is what the detent catches to make it stand up. If the screw is broken off the only way to repair it is to replace the housing. Hope this helps.

Your DC24 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. You can reset the machine by following the steps shown in the video below. You may also want to refer to our online Support guide:
Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline your DC24 into the vacuuming position before testing it.
