It sounds faulty, take it back to where you bought it from under the warranty. if it's beyond the warranty, then get in touch with Apple and see if they can help.

My ipod shows only white screen when i disconnect it from my laptop. when its connected its black it shows nothing.

play the ipod (kill the battery... let it die out) ... make sure you have the latest Itunes version.. once Ipod is dead plug back to laptop........ Itunes should show on screen and Ipod as well.....

now please note for future references always eject the ipod from laptop using Itunes eject on the left side of the screen........

Tip

How to get the most out of your iPod battery

When you first get the iPod make sure to fully charge it. Then only charge the iPod when it is so dead that it will not stay on long enough to play anything. Then allow the battery to charge until a screen appears saying fully charged. This may seem redundant but it ensures the batteries capacity will be maximized for as long as possible. There are only about 1800 charge cycles in an iPods battery life. This may seem like a lot of charging ability but when you wish to keep the iPod for more than a year and a half it becomes more realistic that it is not.
Above all else, never ever remove the iPod from the computer without ejecting it first.
If you are for some reason unable to properly eject the iPod, first shut down your computer before removing the iPod.

How do i turn on my ipod shuffle?.......and how long do i charge the battery for?... and how do i know my ipod is fully charged?

  • first i will cover turning the unit on. then i will cover how to charge the unit.
-Move the power switch on the top of the iPod Shuffle to the "Normal" or "Shuffle" position.
  • Press the play button on the iPod Shuffle to begin music playback. If the iPod does not begin to play, follow the rest of the instructions.
  • Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Shuffle and then connect the other end of the cable to your iPod power adapter.
  • Plug the iPod power adapter into a standard electrical outlet to charge the iPod Shuffle's battery. Try to press the play button again.
  • Connect the iPod Shuffle to your Mac or PC computer using the iPod USB cable. Then, open the iTunes program on the computer and sync your iPod with your music library. If your iPod Shuffle was frozen, it should now turn on.
  • to tell if the ipod shuffle is charging. Eject iPod shuffle in iTunes, but leave it physically connected to the USB port. The front LED should be orange if it's charging (or green if it's fully charged). If it's not charging (such is the case if it's connected to a low-power USB port on a keyboard), you won't see a front LED. If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the comment. thanks and have a great day.

My ipod it showing a message that of : connected

If your ipod is frozen on the screen with this message then you might have disconnected your ipod from computer while it was either syncing or playing.
Anyways, make sure your ipod is not connected with the computer and on the ipod, press and hold the middle and menu button together until you see an apple logo on the ipod's screen.
Let go the buttons when the apple logo appears on the screen. That step reset your ipod and in most cases that fix the issue.
In case you still have the same problem even after that step, then call AppleCare at 1800-275-2273
    Hope that answers your question

I had a temp problem like this too! I found that by purchasing the plug adaptor, it got around to charging the battery on the iPod eventually. Check that the points of the USB cord at either ends haven't been bent or are at least clean.

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

    Charging ipod 4gb

Yes, the iPod will show that it is charging on its screen. Disconnecting without ejecting can cause data loss of whatever is stored on the iPod
Ejecting is when you remove the iPod from the desktop by dragging its icon to the trash or clicking on the down arrow next to the iPods name from within iTunes.

If you use the library computer, usually a Windows based OS, you'll need to click on the iPod icon from the task tray on the lower right of the screen. You can right click to select the remove option
