Question about Advanced Elements Advancedframe Convertible Inflatable Kayak

1 Answer

Small hole I have a small hole in the finyl of the hull on my Advanced elements. The patches that came w/ the boat are not the same material as the rubber on the bottom. it's a 2mm x 4mm oval. Can I use a plain vinyl repair to seal it? it's deep enough to see the fabric under the vinyl.

You need a patch of at least the same quality as the item to be patched. If the patch is of the same material it's compatability with the cement isn't a problem. The cement or the adhesive needs to be the best you can get as the quality of any repair is only as good as the materials used.

You're in luck that Advanced Elements is a company that will actually talk to you with technical help. If they haven't for whatever reason, there is one solution that you may try. Cut a piece of patch material larger than the hole. Glue a toothpick to the center of the patch and let dry. Apply a large amount of adhesive to the toothpick side of the patch, then push the patch inside the hole and pull it flat against the inside using the toothpick. Push the hole closed around the toothpick. When it's dry, smooth off the patch and the air pressure inside the hull will hold the patch against the inside wall.

Regal boat specs 2002 lsr 1800

If it's near the bow then it's the drain for the anchor locker. If it's near the stern then it's the bilge pump outlet.

I have Simmons deep sleep air bed which got 2-3 leaks :( Suggest me something..what to do next?

If the holes are small, a dab of rubber cement on the holes may be sufficient to seal them. Larger holes will require a patch of the same or similar material as the mattress itself.

To properly adhere a patch, roughen up the mating surfaces of the mattress and the patch. Sandpaper is ideal. Be sure the mating surfaces are clean and free of dust. Apply rubber cement to the patch and apply it over the hold. Apply pressure to the patch using weights (a stack of books work great). Let the repair sit this way for the duration of the time required for the cement to set up according to the instructions on the cement.

Hope this helps.

I have a small crack in the top of my paddle boat that takes on water when the kids are playing or when the wind kicks up and waves roll over the top. Can I make a fiberglass repair or is there another...

I used ABS, PVC combination plumbers glue, the kind they use to put plastic waste pipe together, to patch up 2 small holes in my plastic pelican boat. It seems to melt on, so far so good

Best way to locate and repair a slow leak in a intex seahawk 500 inflatable

Get some bubble bath, mr. bubble, or just dish soap, thinned out with water, spray it all over the boat, you will get it cleaned up and find the leak at the same time. When you see th e stream of bubbles coming out, mark it, get it dried off and patch it up. I think they use a contac cement on the Hypolon boats, or is it neoprene? Do you have a patch kit? Any pieces of material for a patch? The hardware store has pvc rubber used for shower pans, that might stick on there, clean it good with laq thinner, and brush on some glue, both pieces, let dry, then slap them together. You will know if it will work. Or else look up the manufacturers recommendations. he boat supply might have patch kits in stock. Hope this helps.

Repair of small crack/cut in the hull bottom...3 " long..1/64" or less wide...

It depends on the material of the hull. If it is Fiberglass then buy a small auto or boat repair fibreglass kit and follow instructions in the kit.
. If it is one of the engineering thermoplastics like High density Polyethylene ABS or Polypropylene I would try and find somone who can weld it with the appropriate material. This would be done by carefully shaping the plastic away from the crack to form a "V" shaped recess and then filling the gap with the appropriate filler rod usually using a hot air blower designed for the job.

One of my pontoons leaks off fairly quickly, Its is leaking around the seam of the valve how do i fix or replace it?

With a leak kit supplied by the company that make the pontoon. They are either rubber or neoprene so the patch needs to be the right material and the glue needs to contain the right solvents. Cut a circular patch and use a punch to make a nice round hole to fit over the valve. Glue following the instructions.

Up here in Canada, both Canadian Tire and Bass Pro Shop do repair kits.

Popular canoe material

ABS, or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, has earned a reputation among canoeists for near indestructibility. It is one of the most damage-resistant canoe materials in use today. Badly dented hulls, even those that have literally been bent around a rock, have been restored to their original shape, without cracks or leaks, by the application of heat. Canoeists have dubbed ABS craft "rubber boats" and with good reason. Since the material tends to flex slightly, it is forgiving, tending to slide over rocks, or bounce off them, with little more than a surface scratch. Some of its limitations are marginal buoyancy - it will float when capsized but just barely, so don't expect to climb into a swamped ABS canoe to await rescue, or to hand-paddle it ashore. Also, when wet, the floor of an ABS canoe is slippery, which can prove troublesome in rapids. ABS canoes require little maintenance and can be left outdoors all year - although ones with wooden gunwales and peaks should be propped to avoid ground moisture. ABS canoes also require special epoxy resins for repairs.

Scanoe, Ram-X, Split in hull near gunwhales- Repair, How?

I found a Scanoe like this on craigslist that was being given away because of several splits ins the hull. I was ready to buy that patch kit on line when I stumbled on a solution that worked great! I was in Home Depot looking in their pond department and saw some self adhesive patches for poly ponds. I bought on for less than $7.00 and gave it a try. I sanded the inside of the hull around the split. cleaned it well and applied the patch. It worked like a charm!
