The install is fairly easy. Before you begin make sure if you have SCSI adaptors installed have the drivers for them on hand. If you do not have these drivers you should download them to a 1.4MB floppy disk. When you are ready, put the Windows Server disk in the cd/dvd and reboot the IBM. Follow the instructions on screen and you shoud be fine. From start to finish it should take you about 1 1/2 hours to complete everything.

You should be able to go to the manufactur website for the drivers. If you are unsure of the brand and have the adaptor install, go to device manager, click SCSI adaptor, and make a note of the brand that you have.

I have been installing Server 2008 R2 on our older IBM X series servers and there is no need for the specific drivers if you use the IBM server guide CD.
When you boot from this CD you get the option to install the OS of your choice. I think the CD you will be looking for, for the X3400 series is here:

I install windows 2003 server but req. harddisk drivers

Hello,

You should be ableto get the drivers from Microsoft and from IBM support site. If you are unable to do so from the x3400, you can download the drivers to a usb or cd-rom and install from there.

Hard disk no detect in installtion of window server 2003 32 bit oprating system how to install windows server 2003 (32bit) in ibm server x3400

You need to give windows installation the drivers for your Sata-Bus by pressing F6 while the installation load the drivers (like when we want to install on RAID drive). or do the following method follow the links in that page for Slipstreaming VIA Serial ATA drivers and the other link to create a boot CD Creating a bootable Windows CD with Nero.
it's all in the following link: http://weblogs.asp.net/jkey/archive/2005/08/28/423901.aspx
