Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Picture quality of W80

I had sony digital camera before and then i bought W80 after reading the reviews. However, since I have bought it, the camera works perfectly in daylight but really bad pictures in dark or closed surroundings. The megapixels don't seem to work. The pictures are hazy, blurred and the light is reflected across the entire photograph. This happens in Automode as well and don't seem to correct after the camera has been reset.
Can someone tell me if there is an issue with my camera or this is a common issue across W80.

I am having the same problem and I as well am a previous Sony owner that loved my camera. I have been reading a ton of reviews and they all say the same thing that this camera does not work well in low light areas, especially if you are trying to take pictures of people. I have talked to Sony as well and they say teh only thing that you can do is to adjust the ISO settings which I have done and it does not help enough to make it worth your while.

Mine will be taken back this weekend....anyone got an idea what to get instead??

I have the exact same problem and am extrememly disappointed. I sent the camera in for repair and they said they replaced the lens, but itt still blurs and in low light color and sharpness is TERRIBLE. I don't know what to do next other than get rid of the camera.

I have the same problem. We just came back from a beach outing and I was excited to see the pics on my computer screen. But I was very disappointed. The daylight shots looked better (though my old 4.2 megapixel sony did way better handsdown). But the nightshots and those under lowlight were just terrible, too grainy and blurry and the colors washed out. I thought the higher 7.2 megapixel would turn out sharper, more detailed pics. It's such a letdown. I just reinitialized the setting but am not sure if its the solution.

How do i set date/time stamp on photos for DSC-W80? i have read manual nothing refers to this????

I'm sorry to inform you that the new cameras do not have the superimposing feature to add date and time on images automatically.
This is because many customers do not want that feature..
However, these cameras come with exit technology. The exit technology write the date and time information in the picture as meta data.
You can use an exif compatible software to add date and time on images.
You can also the supplied picture motion browser software to add date and time.
Please click on the below link to view the instructions to add date and time on images using the Picture Motion browser Software:
Thanks for understanding
