Are you unable to fax out to any number or some specific numbers only? This error usually occurs when the receipting fax machine does not respond to incoming faxes.

This error as mentioned is due the other fax machine to which you are sending the fax is not responding. Make sure the other machine to which are sending the fax is online and working fine,.

I want to set up the fax facility of the HP L7680. I have a ADSL modem and share the telephone line. Can you help me? Allen Versteeg

First you must have a two prong cable (RJ11)
That should be connected to Line 1 at the back of the printer

On the printer press the setup button
Select Basic fax setup >> Ok >>Select rings to answer >> make it to 2
Then Go back to the previous menu select Advanced fax setup>> ok>>
Select Answer rings pattern>> All rings

This should work

I brouth a magic jack i hooked it up to my hp l7680 but it will not fax how can i take care of this problem and get it to fax

Sometimes. Do you have dial tone on the TEL jack of the fax machine?
If that works and you can call the number and the fax machine answers, then check out the MJ instructions for turning off error correction and reducing the transmit rate.!PAGETYPE?sf=101133&sn=2&documentid=345400&action=view

I need assistance with fax error codes # 322 and # 358. What do they mean?

Error code 322- There was a communication error with the receiving fax machine due to poor telephone line conditions.
Set the receiving machine to receive at a slower transmission speed
If the session fails after sending several pages of a large document, resend the document as several smaller documents.
Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
Error code 358--
The remote user pressed the Stop key,
The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam.
Configure the local fax machine to use a slower reception speed.
Disable ECM mode on your machine.
Try sending a fax to another location.

HP Officejet Pro L7680 shows "Phone off hook"

scroll through the menu of the machine and come to the fax settings and then and chck if the line in use is line 1 or not,the DRP is set properly according to your telephone service provider, you have the phone line connected to line 1 port of the machine, you are not using a digital line for the fax machine,if you have a TAM then set the printer to picj\k up fax calls at two more rings than your telephone.

Communication error when sending a fax.

Is it all numbers of just this one? If all numbers then there may be too much noise on the line for the fax to get a good connection.

Things to try:
1) unplug the fax for about 5 minutes and try again.
2) Try plugging the fax into a different phone jack if possible.
3) Try using a different (preferably as short as possible) phone cord and see if that helps.

If just this one the problem may be on the recepients end.

Manual fax answering won't work

For receiving a fax, its not necessary that you should have a dedicated fax line. But in case you are using a voice mail over the same phone line in which you receive faxes, it may interrupt it.  So its recommended to use a Distinctive Ring Pattern, which will be provided by your phone vendor. However before trying it try to  do   a power drain in printer. To do a power drain, you need to dixconnect the printer for power connection, leave it for few minutes than replug it. Else  try a reset on the printer, try to unplug the power cable, press and hold # and 6 on the pritner while power cable is unplugged , and than while holding the # and 6 button replug the power cable back to unit. It will reset the printer to factory defaults. This should work....
