Order a new cable from Belkin.Com or equivalent. It would be a good idea if you specified USB-2.

There are three ways to get this fixed:

1. You could order a new power unit (lower board assembly) and a new upper display board assembly, solder them together, then replace your assembly with the newly assembled one.

You'd need the following parts:

2. This option is more difficult, but cheaper. You would order the upper circuit board assembly, desolder your old one from the lower power board, then solder the new upper board onto your power board.

CAUTION: There is a danger from hazardous voltage in the area of the printer where you are
working. Unplug the printer before you begin, or use caution if the printer must receive power in
order to perform the task.

Service tip: Set the Fuser Temperature to NORMAL before starting this service check. In Diagnostics mode, In
Diagnostics mode, select EP SETUP, and Fuser Temp.

1 Fuser assembly

Check the thermistor cable for correct installation to J5 on the fuser
card. If installed correctly, check for correct installation of J10 on the
system board. If all cables are installed correctly, go to step 2.

Turn the printer off and disconnect the thermistor cable from J5 on
the fuser board. Measure the resistance between the two pins on the
thermistor cable, if the resistance measures infinity (open circuit),
replace the fuser top cover assembly.

Reconnect the thermistor cable to J5 on the fuser board. Disconnect
the fuser to system board cable from J10 on the system board and
measure the resistance between J10-3 and J10-4 on the cable. If the
resistance measures infinity (open circuit) check the continuity of
pins 3 and 4 of the cable. If correct, replace the fuser assembly. See
“Fuser assembly removal” on page 4-26. If incorrect, replace the
fuser to system board cable.
Note: If the error code still displays, replace the system board. See
“System board and inner shield removal” on page 4-76.

Most likely just replace the fuser (part of usage kit)

Enter Diagnostic mode:
1. Press and hold (Down Arrow) and (Up Arrow).
2. Turn on the printer.
3. Release the buttons when Performing Self Test displays.

When you lift the scan assembly you will see 2 covers that run to the back of the machine, you lift those covers and unplug the cables from the circuit board and take this scanner assembly off. After that there are 7 screws to lift the center cover. You will then see the printhead with 4 ink tubes attached. Cleaning usually doesn't help this printhead, only a new printhead, around $100.00

Error Code 993: Indicates the cam sensor has not been activated.
The sensor activates when the fuser drive motor turns the cam disk.
If the fuser drive motor does not turn on, or the drive parts are not
operating, go to A.
If the fuser drive motor turns and appears to be operating properly,
and the cam is turning, go to B.
If the fuser drive motor turns and appears to be operating properly,
and the cam is not turning, go to C.

A The fuser drive system is not operating properly.

that is a fuser drive error on printers. it is the part that fixes the ink to the paper.
i have a check for you but is not an easy fix.
if fuser drive is gone will cost approx £12 to replace.

Power loss


Try unplugging and then plugging the TV back in. If you can now turn it back on then you have a bad main board. If this does not make any difference then you have a bad power board. Hope this helps.

Print head assembly on my Lexmark Optra S 1855 needs to be replaced. My question is what causes the print head to malfunction in the first place?


I guess you're getting an error message which is normally one of the below (causes underneath)

Error Code 931
No first HYSNC Signal
Error Code 932
Lost HYSNC =

These errors usually indicate a
failure in the HYSNC signal to the
printhead. Check the continuity of
the cables connected to J3 and J8
on the engine board. If incorrect,
replace the defective cable. The
voltage at J8-4 measures
approximately +5 V dc. If incorrect,
replace the engine board. The
voltage at J3-7 measures
approximately +24 V dc. If incorrect,
replace the engine board. If correct,
replace the printhead assembly.


Error Code 934
Mirror Motor Lost Lock
Error Code 935
Mirror Motor unable to
reach operating speed =

These error codes indicate a
problem with the mirror motor circuit
in the printhead assembly or the
mirror motor cable to the engine
board cable or engine board
assembly. Check the continuity of

+24 V dc. If incorrect, replace the
