Edwin,
It's probably a faulty logic board, what's know as the logic-main. I would run - don't walk - back to the retailer and return it for something else and possibly a little more mainstream.

I assume you have pressed the zoom button on the remote control that came with the tv. If you have a cable box or satellite tv box press the # button or hd zoom button or aspect button or format button on that remote control. If you are connecting a high definition cable box or satellite tv box to this television make sure that the high definition cables are connected to the right high definition inputs on the television and that the television is switched over to the right corresponding input. If all else fails and this is just happening on one hd channel it is the hd channel.
Hi:
If you are using the television with a cable box try looking a format button the the cable boxs remote to change aspect of the pictue. Also try unpluging the unit from the AC outlet for at least two minutes to reset the unit.
you need to change the aspect ratio on your cable box from 4:3 to 16:9. sould be under menu/setting/. if not try using the format button on the remote. hope this helps
In your philips menu there is an option to turn of your auto aspec ratio to OFF then using your sky remote go to services, 4 then picture and ensure that this is set to 16:9
Sounds like you've changed the aspect ratio to a 4:3 and you need to put it back to a 16:9.
Go into your menu and find the sub menu that allows you to change "format" or "aspect ratio". Adjust that until you have it at 16:9 and see if that corrects your problem.
Good Luck
