Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

SCANNING TO THE PC

I have followed the instructions for scanning a photo to the pc, vista enabled. However when i press the go button nothing happens.

The scanner is working as I have sacnned a photo and printed directly.

However i would be like to be able ton scan the photo on to the pc for manipulation.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Just installed Leapord and now the scanner won't work.


    All other printer operations work.

    I'm trying to scan a document to my computer, but nothing happens when I press the start button.
    I also attempted to use the windows scanner and camera wizard, but it says it cannot detect a scanner.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Try turning the windows firewall off.
That fixed the problem for me.  
Once things were working again, I just added the Canon scanner app to the list of programs that are allowed through the firewall and turned the firewall back on.
Same thing happened to my Mac after installing Leopard (10.5).  This time just changed the firewall on Mac to allow the canon scanner app through.

I have got pictures from the scanner to the PC using the import option with photoshop. It would probably work with other image handling software.
The MP navigator program supplied with the MP600 is non functional with my machine. It just comes up with 'insufficient memory ' message as I said in my posting

Make sure the scanner is connected to your laptop/PC before you press 'scan' and is turned on.
Pressing the scan option will start Canan's software MP Navigator for scanning. You can also start MP Navigator on your PC and then start scanning directly from your program or from the printer button.

Try updating the drivers. Take this link to Hp and either enter model number and then operating system or let Hp detect your hardware and select drivers.

HP Deskjet F4280 all-in-one - when I preview a scan in "scanners and cameras" it previews fine but when I press the button to scan, the on/off light just blinks rapidly at me and nothing happens.
If you have installed your printer correctly, is your Page aligned, if not try page alignment by loading A4 paper into the tray and adjust the tray to fit with your paper, then restart your printer.

Note that you do not need the photo smart essential to perform your scanning, all you need is to press the scan button and the scanning page automatically open on your PC

Frankly Vista is a dog, and I'm not surprised at your difficulty. Have you tried installing the printer from Vista itself, rather than using the Printer CD? This can work if the printer CD is for XP (as many are).

Unable to use Memory Card with PC VISTA
The scanning software for your printer must be installed separately from the printer software on Vista systems. The following link will take you to the page to download the scanning software....just find your model number and select it:

Pressing of scan button feature is no longer supported by hp drivers, if installed correctly one scans using scanners and fax


When the scan button is pressed on the printer, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Solution Scan documents using Windows Fax and Scanning or Paint. Scanning with Windows Fax and Scanning
  1. Click the Start (c00845897.gif ) icon.
  2. Click All Programs .
  3. Click Windows Fax and Scanning .
  4. Click New Scan .
  5. Click File and then click Scan .
Scanning with Paint
  1. Click Windows .
  2. Click All Programs .
  3. Click Accessories .
  4. Click Paint .
  5. Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera .
  6. Click Scan .
Cause The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the printer. link to above info from HP
