Sears 1/2 hp shallow well pump wiring for 230 volts

I have a sears pump I would like to convert from 115 volts to 230v. I can't read the schematic diagram on the pump that tells me how to do this. Can you tell me how? Also, do I need to do anything to the pressure switch when I convert?

Most submersible pump motors are interchangeable.
A 230 V motor will run cheaper. Be sure to get the correct HP motor.

Whirlpool furnace starts and turns off in a few minutes

Wrong section. Should be in Air Conditioning. Suspect you have a failed "at temp/ready" sensor in the furnace which tells the fan to come on or, if the fan never comes on, it is going in to overtemp and shutting down. Repost on AC section and should get a better answer.

Wiring a 230/115 1 hp 56y pool pump motor

please verify the name plate to be 115 230 volt motor.there will be a schematic that shows you exactly how to hook up this motor depending on the voltage being supplied to it. The main thing is switching between 115 and 230 volts this is a selector switch this very easily forgotten about. Please make sure to check that and double check that to make sure its on the proper selected switch. Good luck

Hi Eglenni,

Here are the specs for your pump:

Thermoplastic Shallow Well Jet Pump 3/4 HP. This new revision of an "old hand" provides good pressure pumping from wells where the depth-to-water is 25' or less.

BODY CONSTRUCTION: Thermoplastic
HORSEPOWER: 3/4
MAXIMUM CAPACITY: 12 GPM
FLOW at 10' LIFT and 40 PSI: 9.7 GPM
MAX LIFT: 25'
MAXIMUM PRESSURE: 78 psi
PRESSURE SWITCH SETTING: 30/50
SUCTION PIPE SIZE: 1-1/4" NPT
DISCHARGE PIPE SIZE: 1" NPT
AMP DRAW (full load): 6.1 amps on 230v / 12.2 amps on 115v
VOLTAGE: 230v / 115v, 60 Hz
RECOMMENDED BREAKER: 15 amp on 230v / 20 amp on 115v
MAXIMUM WATER TEMPERATURE: 140 °F (60 °C)
=========================================
Note that this pump can be operated at 115 volts or 230 volts (A/C) It may have come wired for 230 volt use from the vendor.

Make sure the pump is piped correctly.

There should be a wiring diagram either on the pump or in the literature so you can check to see how the pump is wired.

MAKE SURE
you have the pump wired for 115 volt use in your case. Also make sure the wire size is #12 awg for the power wiring.
Make sure all connections are tight. If you have an amprobe (an instrument that measures electric current) you can check to see how many amps the pump is pulling when it runs.

You said your old pump was 1 HP. This Flotec pump is 3/4 horse so there could be some pump performance loss depending on the well depth and length of the piping runs.

Here's the link to the website for the pump. There are additional resources available on the website:

Sears 5 h.p. air compressor model 919176850 convert to 110 volt

pull the cover where the wiring goes into the motor, usually there is a wiring diagram on the underside. If not, go to sears online to see if you can get the manual for it
