It is from August 2001. I had the exact same issue with a 1999 Trinitron and I took the back off and sprayed some electrical cleaner on the glass to clean it (I was not trying to solve the problem just clean it up). When I turned it on I heard a pop from within and the picture was perfect?? This one is a HD thugh and I really want to keep it but......not like this.

There are no speakers near it. I know what you are referring to and this is not that. The picture has a pink reddish tint to it. Even the fuzz when there is no cable hooked up has the tint to it.

The red tint tells me that this is a problem with the red gun (tube)being over driven, this can be caused by a grid to cathode short. now for the problem, If you want to go all of the way with the fix the tube has to be replaced, and with it the other tubes also, this can get costly (the average CRT costs $250 - $399 a piece) for you about to the tune of $900 just for parts 3 CRTs.

Now for the good news, you can ask the TV technician, (oh yes btw you are going to need a TV technician to solve this problem because the section of the TV you would need to work in is hazardous, it contains dangerous voltages and currents (30K volts) and (.5 amps) these can kill so my suggestion is to have a TV repair technician replace your CRTs.) To change the tubes out or to remove the short from the RED tube using a CRT Rejuvenator (I suggest the B&K Precision 490B CRT Analyzer-Rejuvenator). Now using a CRT rejuvenator on an average will give you about 2-6 more years of life on that CRT.
Let me know how this turns out.

U WILL MOST LIKELY NEED A NEW PICTURE TUBE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND PERHAPS A NEW HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BOARD. THESE ARE VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS, SO REPLACEMENT IS A VERY REAL OPTION HERE.

Do you have any speakers close to the screen? If you do, move them farther away, shut down TV and unplug for a while.

Hi,

How old is the TV? it sounds very much like the tube/element has developed a fault, if this is the case then it's an expensive repair, and usually, sadly means the life of the unit has ended.

I await your answer.

My pictures have a reddish tint to them

If your pictures that have the reddish tint are taken indoors, the tint is likely caused by the lighting. You can set up a 'white balance" adjustment to fix that.

Its an issue with the digital processing board. Turn off the TV for sometime and let it cool. Then check. If you still face the same issue, get the digital processing board repaired.

Thanks

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-24FS120 24" TV Color changes

Try turning down (off) the color during such an episode. If the image is tinted pink or green instead of black and white when you do this, you have either an intermittent short in your CRT (tube), which is terminal,or a gun drive problem, which may be repairable. If you're feeding it component instead of composite signal,it may just be a bad connection of the B-Y cable.

This may be a bad crt or picture tube. Take a good look at the picture when it's on and see if it has a pinkish or greenish tint. This is easiest to see if you turn the color adjustment all the way down. If it looks like the tint is green or pink and the focus isn't great then it's probably a bad crt. Not worth repairing if its the tube.
