Question about Weddings

Open Question

Is it normal for couples to disagree on several things about the reception and how do you get through it?

My husband has very strong opinions on this stuff for a man and sadly it's usually the opposite of mine. So far we've had deadlock arguments on the following: Day or night reception, whether or not to allow kids, what song we should come in to, what song the bridal party should come in to, what favors to get, specifically how those favors should be arranged, cake topper or not, our pic on the save the date or not, seating arrangements and more. We've been together for 5 years and never host big parties like this so I don't see it as an ominous forecast about our marriage to come, but how do we get through it now? A lot of this stuff there's no compromise on. We either include a pic or we don't. And the one against pics doesn't want ANY pic, so again compromise is out.

To the people who got married and have little to no friends or family?

I was in your situation, however neither of us have many friends OR family and what family we have lives miles away. We chose to do a destination wedding in Vegas. BEST plan ever. Then when we got home, we shared photos of the big event. My husband and I just planned the wedding online and he and I showed up on our day and got married! I think the family appreciated not having to spend a fortune to attend...LOL...If you live near a beach, have it there...Small, yet intimate. Best of luck!
