How do I check if a current overflow' problem is due to the Sensor or the Rainbank?

take the sensor above water level--say in a bucket of water then lift it out of the bucket
if the mains water flows or stops flowing depending on whether the sensor is in or out of the water will indicate it sensor or solenoid of the rainbank
I suspect that the sensor will be a simple float arrangement filled with mercury so that when it is hanging down ( no tank water) the mercury bridges a set of contact points and makes a circuit and when it get to a fill point the mercury flows away from the points and so breaks the circuit

Why is my water sensor open

Do you mean your heater is saying water sensor open? Or your control?
Whichever one it is , simply replace the sensor, if it's the system giving you this msg the. Find a probe with a bandclamp on your plumbing and replace it .

If it's the heater giving the code then depending on what type heater you have, the temp sensor is located around the header area

I was receiving an F3E2 Error code which states something to do with the water temperature sensor. I got a new water temperature sensor and replaced. Now the washer will run fine without any clothes in the...

WATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR ERROR
If the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range (23°F to 217°F
[-5°C to 103°C]) during the water-heating step of the WASH cycle.
Possible Causes/Procedure
- Unplug washer or disconnect power.
- Make sure that connections to water heater & CCU (TH2 & HE2 cavities)
connectors are not broken or with wires detached, and that connector internal
pins are visible.
- Check continuity from the water heater sensor (black wires) to CCU
(TH2 cavity) connector.
- If the continuity diagnosis failed, the Main Harness must be replaced.
- Check the resistance of heating element.
- Check the resistance of the water sensor.
- Plug in washer or reconnect power.
- Verify the washer operation by running the Diagnostic Test cycle.
- After the diagnostic test has finished, unplug washer or disconnect
power and wait for 15 seconds.
Water Temperature Sensor
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Disconnect the wire harness from the water temperature
sensor and measure the resistance of the sensor. Use the
following table. An abnormal condition is an open circuit =
infinity; Water Temperature Sensor must be replaced.
Temperature Results
32°F (0°C) 35.9k ?
86°F (30°C) 9.7k ?
104°F (40°C) 6.6k ?
122°F (50°C) 4.6k ?
140°F (60°C) 3.2k ?
158°F (71°C) 2.3k ?
203°F (96°C) 1k ?

Is there a water pipe to the level sensor

Or the water level sensor is defect, or a cable got lose. or the tube connected to the sensor is leaking air.
Lots of causes. But please first close the water tap. Then try t drain the water. Perhaps like you get ride of the water when cleaning the filter. And when everything is out of the machine start investigating, or ask a technician.

F24 error code

WATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR ERROR
If the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range (23F to 217F[-5C to 103C]) during the water-heating step
of the WASH cycle.
NOTE: To find correct Ohm reading refer to the Water Temperature Sensor section.

1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check the water temperature sensor and connection to it.
3. Check resistance of heating element, if present on this model. (abnormal = infinity)
4. Refer to the Water Temperature Sensor section.

Get error message F5 about 3 minutes into the cycle, have to reset multiple times to override

F-5 Water temp sensor failure
If during the water heating step in the wash cycle, the water
temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range, the "F/05" error code
will be displayed. Possible cause/procedure:
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check the water temperature sensor. Refer to the
"Water Temperature Sensor" section. Check
connections to the water temperature sensor.
3. Check resistance of heating element, if present on this
