Check that you didn't lock the card by mistake- there is a small "sliding door"- make sure it is covering the hole.

I can't format my new micro sd card

The Samsung Alias works with microSD cards. Your 8GB card is actually a microSDHC card and will not work in devices not designed to work with them. You need to use a microSD card, 2GB or smaller.

Sandisk micro memory chip not working in my lg620g cell phone

The LG620g works with microSD cards. Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it's electronically incompatible and will not work in this phone. You need to use microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I have a Samsung SCH-r470. I bought a 4gb PNY

If your phone was purchased new less than 12mths ago, the GOV'T regulates that there must be a replacement offered for that device for defective components. Experience tells me that this phone has a broken slide casing that hold the microSD card in place. What will happen is the card will come out of contact with the inner workings of the phone and the device will read as if a card was not present at all. There are two ways to solve the problem, and one way to make do.

1. Take it back to the store where purchased and request a replacement due to defective hardware components. (your phone must NOT be damaged beyond normal wear and tear, and this option is the most highly recommended)
2. Take it somewhere to be repaired. (there are some 3rd parties that can repair this)
3. Scotch tape and a piece of paper. (tear the corner off the sheet of paper and fold it 2-4 times as needed to make up for the gap. No more no less. Then tape the "square" of paper to the side of the SD card without contacts and tape it down snug. this is not a permanent fix and must be repeated from time to time or when the card is removed.)

Cannot format sd card

You are probably trying to format a micro-SD card that is greater than 2GB eg, micro-SDHC (High Capacity) of 4GB or bigger are not supported by 'older' devices. Stick to 1Gb or 2Gb standard microSD cards for your device.

Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.

The PIC or EEPROM inside these cards may not be working. I guess you best bet is to buy a new one try Kingston brand or go with another Sandisk.
