Question about Crafts & Hobbies
It would not move and stay in the neutral position. I charged the battery in neutral for over an hour and then the engine worked in forward and reverse. After a while I could not get any reaction to the engine. It is dead. Can it be reprogramed? The battery tested as good. What can the problem be?

Unfortunately the only thing to do in this case is to open the gearbox and see the real status of the cylinders, it's very possible the cylinders do not make contact anymore.

SOURCE: my troy bilt won't go in neutral
The Junior tiller does not have a neutral selection. In order to free wheel the tiller you have to remove the pins that go thru the wheel rim hubs and then it will roll without starting it. Hopefully the rims are not rusted to the wheel shaft.

You have a open connection even a open fuse start with the fuse there is a 120 amp that is for the charging system and there is a 30 amp fuse.If bothe fuses are good go to the alternator and make sure of your connection just because there on doesnt mean there good The choice tool for this is a voltmeter

Testimonial: "Had alternator rebuilt, turns out the brushings were worn out. Thanks for all your help!"
This is Ron out of Vero Beach Florida. I have been doing trannys for years. The problem you described is caused (more than likely) by a seized clutch pack. Depending on the trans, and your car should be RWD with a 700r4 tranny, there are several sets of clutch packs and at least one band. Automatic transmissions rely on fluid pressure to "engage" the correct set of clutch discs, at the right time , to engage and change gears. I have seen in the past, where a customer parks his car for the evening and the next morning, no move. What happened?? More than likely, a clutch pack was on it\'s way out but cause the car was hot the plates were free, but after cooling, they can weld themselves together and actually "lock-up". In the morning you know the end result. Your tip on "moves in Nuetral" is the give away. Ron
