SOURCE: Only half of picture is printing
I have the same problem where only the bottom half of my photo prints. It worked fine for a long time. I even tried flashing the printer up to the 2.11 firmware version from 1.90 - still nothing. Changed paper and cartridge. NOTHING. Tried attaching it to both my PC & MAC and even print stand alone picture from camera and a SD memory card on the side. NOTHING.
I think the problem is with Kodak... My trouble started when I decided to move my Dock Printer from PC over to MAC. The new drivers have you flash the Firmware. To do this, you first must hold down the Print and Red EYe Button (The button directly to the right of the big print button) with the power cord unplugged and then plug it in holding the buttons in for 2 seconds afterward.
This put the printer into Edit mode and allows the firmware to upgrade the printer. Once I did that, THAT'S when my problem started. I think these crappy printers can NOT self calibrate and they must be factory set. Most likely, they need to do it at the factory themselves and are all to happy to charge you to ship it off and do it for you.
THANKS KODAK!
What a POS.

If the boundary between the blank half and the printed half is a sharp line, a wire to the print head may be broken or disconnected. If the boundary is irregular (wanders up and down an 1/8 inch or so), the problem is most likely a broken plastic lever on the end of the shaft that moves the print head. The plastic lever is keyed to the shaft by a flat on the shaft. The plastic has a tendency to split at the edge of the flat, resulting in the lever slipping on the shaft. This in turn results in one side of the print head not contacting the paper with sufficient pressure. The other end of the shaft has a thick plastic sector gear which is much less likely to break.
I fixed mine by making a clamp from a metal spacer (made from split tube about 1/8 inch long) and force fitting it over the part of the plastic lever that fits on the metal shaft (on the end towards the inside of the unit). There is just enough clearance to do this without hitting the print head frame.
To remove the plastic lever, first remove two screws from back of unit, then pull up on top of unit, unplug two ribbon cables from circuit board and remove top. Then unplug two remaining ribbon cables from circuit board, and three screws holding circuit board. Lift circuit board and fan/fan-holder as one piece. Finally, disengage tab on plastic retainer on end of metal shaft, rotate tab straight up and lift shaft up and to the side (may require a little wiggling). The plastic lever slides off the metal shaft.

turn off your printer. Press and hold down the left arrow and the transfer button, turn on printer while holding them down, you should hear your printer make some noises, This will be the head lining up. Open the side door to gain access to the cartridge, push on it to see that it i s"locked" in. Lift up on the Green release button on the inside and your cartridge should come free on its own. Be careful not to try and pry it out for this can void your warranty! http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-remove-a-stuck-cartridge-on-a-kodak-g600-printer-dock-249276/view/
