Question about Bernina Sewing Machines

Open Question

My machine started doing a pattern stitch, like 5 short, 2 long, the Pattern Extend icon is showing, but not highlighted. On normal stitch selection that icon shouldn't show.

I've tried to follow steps to get back to Bernina factory settings, but the Pattern Extend icon is still there. What do I need to do to get back to normal stitching?

Brother embroidery machine has started shifting design outline between first colour and others, about 1/2 inch can't back up to correct starting point, doesn't respond.

Did it do this on more than one pattern? Has it stitched this pattern before correctly ? You can try turning the machine off and back on and let it reset. If it is only doing it with this pattern and it's the first time you have stitched it , try again after turning the machine off and back on. If it's not doing it to other patterns and you bought the pattern contact who you bought it from as there is a flaw in the design. Have them check and resend it. I have a converter program so if you get it in a different format you can change it to your format. Sometimes it is designed on a different machine and did not convert well. When I have this problem I download it in .hus and convert it for brother. There are several free preview programs that show you the design and stitch order and let you save it to different formats. If this isn't the problem I would call brother USA +1-877-276-8437

Need information re Pattern selection on Singer Sewing machine 5830C

Both the instruction manual and a workbook are available at the Singer Sewing Machine site, and you can download them free. They both will be able to tell you how to select your patterns.

I just took a look at the user's manual, and pattern selection is on page 42.

Please explain to me how to adjust the numerical, digital buttons on my 7430 Singer sewing machine?

I just took a look at your user's manual, and boy--you're right, and I've been a computer systems engineer for about 30 years!

Actually, it's easier to figure out by DOING rather than looking at the description on page 35. Basically, selection is divided into two categories--utility, that is, stitches you would use for ordinary sewing, like stretch stitches, zigzag stitches, straight stitch, buttonholes, etc. That is located on the left column, with the arrow keys used for navigation in the middle. The display only shows 5 patterns at a time, so to see all of them, you have to keep pressing the down arrow. Once you have selected the stitch itself, you can then select the stitches width and length, and if it's available for that particular stitch, you can mirror (flip) the stitch, and use a twin needle (if it's available for that design)

The decorative and letter stitches are selected on the right column, and work he same way--they are displayed 5 at a time, etc, and selecting stitch width and length, mirror, and twin needle. However, additionally, you can choose to have the pattern sewn once (the default) or continuously.

I hope that helps!

How do you use the pattern stitching module in singer model 2732. I have the Manuel but still don't understand how it works. I have followed instructions and nothing happens. I must be doing something...

Have you installed the stitch selector pattern module for the patterns you want, seated it properly as outlined on page 52 of the instruction book following all 7 steps? (Page 54 identifies the knobs and lever's that need to be moved to successfully install the pattern module)

If that is done correctly, then selecting a stitch is done with the stitch selector lever being moved under the letter corresponding to the stitch you are trying to select. (Shown beginning page 55) You also need to move the stitch length knob as indicated.

You will need to be sure you are following the instructions very carefully as there are a number of settings that need to be made to ensure you get the stitch you are trying to achieve.

I hope this helps you.

How t change knitting instructions 5ply to 8ply

First of all try a guage/tension swatch. Cast on 25 stitches, use 5,5 mm needles and knit stocking stitch for 4 ins. This should tell you if the pattern will work with these needles and yarn.
Count your stitches over the 4 ins and see wht you have to the inch. This is your guage oe=r tension then check with your pattern to see what the guage/tension is.
To change a pattern this drastically needs an experienced knitter
If it is the pattern only that you want. then find a pattern for 8 ply and use the stitch count on the original pattern and modify for the new pattern.I wish you luck.

I'm looking at the Pattern Selector Dial. 2 different stitches are shown for each selection A - H. 1 shown in blue 1 shown in green. Does each pattern have 2 options?along the rt side of the machine also...

i have same machine, you know i found that to be odd too. heres what you do, click it to the letter you like the style, then start sewing on a swatch at the very shortest stitch. then start increasing the stitch width more and more, up to 4 and see how it difers. i think thats where you will see the difference. i haven't played too much with mine yet, but listening to you is encouraging me to play on a swatch with all the difffernt styles you can stitch.

Making a buttonhole on a Necchi 3204 sewing machine

Here's what the manual says:

Before sewing, fit the button-hold foot to the machine (long white plastic thing with red, ruler like markings).

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the left hand side. Set the dial to "1" position. Sew the left side and raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the top and bottom. Set the dial to "2" position. Sew 5-6 stitches and raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the right hand side. Set the dial to "3" position. Sew the right side. Raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the top and bottom. Set the dial to "4" position. Sew 5-6 stitches and raise the needle.

Hope that helps...

How do i make a buttonhole on this machine?

I do not have a buttonhole foot, but I can tell you how I do it with the zig zag foot on the Singer 132Q machine.

1. Mark the spacing and size for the buttonholes with chalk or marking paper. This consists of a straight line with a perpendicular line at the top and bottom that lets you know how big to make the hole. There is probably a pattern piece to let you know what the spacing should be, and you can get the size of the hole for the top and bottom line by laying the button you are going to use on top of the line you draw with the pattern.

2. Make sure the bobbin has plenty of thread.

3. Put the zig zag foot on the machine.

4. Set the stitch size to 1 or maybe a little less. You want a tight stitch to hold the hole together.

5. Start at the top of the buttonhole with the perpendicular line barely visible in the zig zag foot. Think of it as placing the "T" made by the mark in the "T" made by the opening in the zig zag foot.

6. Set the needle pattern to #1 of the buttonhole pattern (2nd from the top). Make sure it is toward the top of the number to insure you get a wide zig zag stitch. If you are getting a narrow stitch, you may have to fiddle with it, but it will work. Stitch 4-6 times making sure the stitch is wide, and end on the left side of the stitch.

7. Change the needle pattern to #2 of the buttonhole pattern and zig zag stitch down to the bottom mark. Do not pull the fabric or you will stretch the stitch. Make sure your last stitch is on the left hand side.

8. Change the needle pattern to #3 of the buttonhole pattern (same as #1), and zig zag stitch 4-6 times ending on the right side this time. Make sure the stitches are wide.

9. Change the needle pattern to #4 of the buttonhole pattern and straight stitch back to the top mark. Be prepared to hand roll the needle the last few stitches to make sure you do not pass the top stitches you have made.

10. Change the needle pattern to #5 of the buttonhole pattern and zig zag stitch back to the bottom mark. Hand roll the last few stitches and end on the left side.

11. Raise the foot and remove the fabric. You are now ready proceed to the next buttonhole or cut the buttonhole open with a small pair of scissors or a seam ripper. Make sure you do not cut any of your stitches.

Make sure you practice on some scrap fabric of the same thickness (2 layers of fabric plus pellon) to make sure you have the size right before you sew the buttonholes on the garment.

GOOD LUCK.
