Question about Dyson V8 Absolute Bagless Cordless Stick Vacuum

Open Question

We purchased the v8 absolute in Nov.2016. When I use it, the wand gets covered with dust and my house is dustier than usual. I wonder if the gasket isn't tight enough?

There is a gap in the dust cover.

Need to know if a part I found after I disassembled. And reassembled my shark professional liftaway navigator vacuum is critical . It's a white rubber gasket of some kind, half moon shaped

The gasket sounds like one between the motor housing and a detachable dirt cup. You didn't include a model number so it's hard to get into specifics, but if it is this gasket I'm speaking to - suction power will suffer and or dirt / dust will leak out. If a different gasket - it may not be noticeable to you that anything is wrong - but gaskets are usually critical components that are used to fill gaps that might otherwise allow dirt, water, dust etc. into spaces where it shouldn't.

The clip or gasket which locks the crevice or other tool into the wand is broken & lost, can't find it listed as a spare part for dc01 absolute

The clip will not be listed as a repair part because it's not sold separately. You'll have to purchase a new wand to get the new clip.

Loss of suction, sucking air through hole on side of housing. Whats causing this?

The air hole on the side is a secondary air release if the suction is not reaching the dust collector detachable bucket. I had this same problem, if nothing is clogged in the hoses try scrapping all the dust off the cylindar screen filter inside the top of the detachable dust collector, I didnt realize that my filter screen had so much **** on it so I cleaned it off and the vacuum worked like a charm. Now the air can flow through unrestricted.

I have a vintage GE coffee perculator made in the 1930's and 1940's Cat No. 119P102 which I bought from an antinque store in Chicago 2 months ago. It has worked beautifully until yesterday morning...

The first problem is the time you will use a product of the very old time , and ask you not wonder what it mains happened in the interval between 1930 and 2016 maybe its not only the changeof 110V to 120 volts it is not much difference but far enough to worry and what the effect is on the heat dissipation of the heating element inside (the coffee must be too hot 90 and 95 degrees are normal all the cables and more parts of Should Be Replaced if it was not modifiedin all Those years, it Should Be modified, and it was modified there must be for shure a big wire resistor be Placed in serial to release to the high aC power on the heating element. and maybe many more parts. gaskets cables and more must Be Replaced iif not safety for all. preventinfo and usefull to a hot Become bitter tasting coffee temperature.

How do you remove brushes and clean under the cover?

I too have this machine. On this particular model the brushes are not removable like on the newer versions. You can either purchase a "cleaning wand" from Hoover OR create your own as follows: Simply obtain a pendaflex hanging file folder (legal size) and remove the metal rods. These rods work exactly like the Hoover wand they try to sell you. They are quite flexible and easily slide thru the clear plastic openings at base of cover. The hooked ends work wonders in removing furballs, hair and other debris that gets trapped under the cover.

WAND HARD TO PULL OUT....

I'm asumming that there is no damage to the hose or pipe here. I had this trouble a while ago and sprayed a little bit of furniture polish (from a can) onto the pipe when fully exposed. maybe WD40 will do the same job but i haven't tried it yet. Anyway, hope it helps you.

Red light on. Works for 2 minuets and then cuts out.  Does not ned a new bag.  Could it be the filter?

It could be a clogged bit of dust. Check the main hose, remove it by unlocking at the top and check the whole assembly including the pull out wand part. Then check the underside. Either inspect using the trapdoor or remove the beater bar and see if there is any clogged dirt behind that. Sometimes dust can get clogged around the neck of the floor head. If you unlock the body of the X from the floor head (button release is just below the main bin) check the main dust channel before it meets the wand. Sometimes it can be clogged with dust there.
Usually if the filters are black they can be cleaned with the exception of the foam motor filter on top of the hood. Cost replacements are usually easy to find online or on EBay.

Vacuum not picking up

At the top of your wand, do you have a plastic swivel that cover a hole in the wand? This is for when you are cleaning curtains, and if that is open, or cracked you will loose suction there... also check your hose for cracks, or breaks. If it were in the shop I would put a gauge on it... normal suction is about 80-95 inches of water lift at the end of the hose. Once you have check each section of the hose, and wand, check the housing for cracks, a missing gasket (Very Good Reason For Lack Of Suction) As to your Filter, how long have you used that one filter, you can clean them for a while, but once a paper filter gets full of FINE dust you won't get it all out, you will have to replace the filter itself at that point. I hope this was helpful.
