Royal 1600mx will not power on. Bin has been emptied. All bits of small pieces of paper have been removed from the blades. Green auto-on light will not come on.

ive seen this on several types of paper shredders , what usually happens is someone puts too large a load into its jaws and it tries but cannot shred it , theres sometimes a small pop out (protection) device by the power cord inlet (on case) and on others this (protection) device is on the inside of the case , requiring one to take it apart and replace it (if its on the inside its not resettable its only replaceable) hope this helps .

My Royal 1600MX is completely empty of any paper but it keeps saying its overheating and shuts off. How do I fix this? Is there a glitch with the sensor?

The overheat indicator comes on because paper residue is jammed in the mechanism, causing it to bind and overheat the motor.

I would suggest calling SAM's, they can at least generate you a duplicate receipt.

I am unable to open the shredder up in iorder to empty it out and clear it.What am i doing wrong? The model is ROYAL 10 sheet crosscut shredder PX 1000 MX .HELP! Thanks. Dave

If you have "overfilled" it, then yes it can be hard to get the bin out...there is no other way than to try to get the paper out a little at a time until the whole bin can be removed.(I heard of one customer say they got it out by turning the machine upside-down) altho' I have never tried that myself. Be aware this may make a mess while trying to get the paper out.

The bin on my royal cross cut paper shredder will not open . It is full and needs to be emptied. It seems to be stuck near the top. If I pull any harder I am afraid the hard plastic will crack.

Yes it is probably "over-full".... you will just have to try to somehow get it open a little and start to fish out the paper without breaking the waste bin....it has to be emptied more frequently, there is no "bin-full" indicator.

Need to empty, how do you open it?

The bin just pulls out but if you cant open it then it is probably "overful" with shredded paper...in extreme cases I have heard people say thay turning the machine "upside down" let them get the bin out.....be aware of the mess this will make.

Runs only in reverse

I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

I did not empty the shredder soon enough & now the drawer will not open. Is there a way lift off the top without messing up the machine?

Try tilting the shredder forwards and pull the waste bin out as much as you can...you may have to reach in to try to pull some of the "compacted" paper out of the waste bin...once you remove some of the paper then the waste bin should slide out more freely. This may make a bit of a mess while fishing out the paper.

Paper shredder jammed

Yes....this is a consumer model....NO BIN/BAG FULL INDICATOR....to keep costs down, you will just have to try to get the bin out a little at a time and slowly reach-in and "fish out the shredded paper...once you have enough out the bin will come out...hopefully the backed up paper has not jammed the machine and blown the PCB inside.....if it has give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.
