How much? price

That doesn't look much like a digital camera. Looks like a mini hifi shelf system. What is the make and model and which country do you live in?

My bush Tv remote turns hifi even when it is not pointing at the Hi fi which is at the other end of the room

Most likely the remote control uses an RF control signal rather than an IR signal. IR signals are directional; RF signals are not - they are range-based.

I have a remote which doesn't work anymore. (20 year old sony LBT-V502 hifi installation and it's standard RM-S530 remote.) What can I do? is it possible to buy a new one?

That is really old. Once you have tried fresh batteries there is not much more to do.

Amazingly there is one for auction on eBay. Good luck. Personally though, I would not buy it used at that price, I'd get a nice new hifi, maybe DAB radio,

How to program a ge one for all remote

Have always found that one for all remotes never worked. If you call the maker of your TV you may get a surprise as to the cost of the original remote. I did. JB Hifi guarantee that a Logitech 300i or 600i WILL work but after getting their price and the price for the original remote it was less cost.

How to connect a hifi to a 42 " lcd tv so i can use aux on hifi . which audio connection on the tv do i use?

It all depends on the connections available on TV and your hifi, easiest method is phono leads most are marked with a red and white dot. Match the dots to the female connections on the back of the hifi and TV (if you are unsure check the manuals) they should be labled.

Difficulty with recording

It sounds like you have connected the two correctly. I can only imagine that you need to check that the hifi source selector is switched to that line-in, it may be referred to as AUX. Check that the recording level control is not at zero on the hifi and if there is a volume control for line-out on the tascam. If you are able to listen to the recording on via the hifi then you are halfway there even if it doesn't get to the hifi recorder. If your hifi is a seperates system then you could try plugging the tascam in to the CD input on the amplifier.
