That is 5.2% in the old units and is a good normal level. If concerned ring your doctor and ask for a brief clarification.

What should tour sygar test for normal

A1C: 7%
A1CA1C is a test that measures a person's average blood glucose level over the past 2 to 3 months. Hemoglobin (HEE-mo-glo-bin) is the part of a red blood cell that carries oxygen to the cells and sometimes joins with the glucose in the bloodstream. Also called hemoglobin A1C or glycosylated (gly-KOH-sih-lay-ted) hemoglobin, the test shows the amount of glucose that sticks to the red blood cell, which is proportional to the amount of glucose in the blood.X may also be reported as eAG: 154 mg/dlmilligrams (MILL-ih-grams) per deciliter (DESS-ih-lee-tur), a unit of measure that shows the concentration of a substance in a specific amount of fluid. In the United States, blood glucose test results are reported as mg/dL. Medical journals and other countries use millimoles per liter (mmol/L). To convert to mg/dL from mmol/L, multiply mmol/L by 18. Example: 10 mmol/L ?¯?¿?½ 18 = 180 mg/dL.X
  • Before a meal (preprandial plasma glucose): 80-130 mg/dl
  • 1-2 hours after beginning of the meal (Postprandial plasma glucose)*: Less than 180 mg/dl

What are low glycemic index foods

This index indicates the relative effect of a food on the body's blood sugar level. Pure glucose has a GI of 100.

A low GI food is one with an index of less than 55, and will have less effect on blood sugar level rise, so is better for diabetics.

GI is not an indicator of speed of blood sugar rise after eating, but generally speaking low GI foods will also release glucose to the blood more slowly.

Can diabetics eat pasta? I have a friend coming over who is diabetic and I wanted to make pasta for dinner.

Pasta is a food that is high in carbohydrates, so diabetics can eat pasta but would have to just keep an eye on portion size. If you want to reduce the carb level of your pasta dish, you should use whole wheat pasta that is rich in fiber and slows the digestion of carbs down so sugar levels don't rise as quickly.
