SOURCE: Where can I get a seal for the flow valve on a

www.arrowmotor.net and use the contact button. You would likely want the rebuild kit that includes all the gaskets and o-rings.

Be sure to include the model number off the valve, which should have SP at the beginning.

SOURCE: I replaced the sand in

http://www.hayward-pool.com/prd/In-Ground-Pool-Literature_10201_10551_14501_-1___I.htm

Above is the link to all hayward sand filter manuals, with parts diagrams.
The most common cause of sand getting through after a change-out, is a broken lateral. The laterals at the bottom of the filter are very fragile, and prone to breaking. When refilling the filter with sand, it should be 3/4 of the way filled with water first to take weight of of the lateral grid. One other possibility is the air bleeder line has come undone. Regardless of which one it is, you will have to go back in and find out.

Use the above link to the parts diagram to identify and order any parts neccessary. Laterals are cheap, so if your doing one of them, you might as well do all of them.

SOURCE: when filtering water it is

Is this a multi-port valve offering back wash, no filter, rinse, etc. modes? Have you ever turned it counter clock wise? (Never turn it counter clock wise.)

You will need to remove the top and put a new gasket in the valve.

If it is Push Pull, remove the two screws at the top and pull the assembly out. Remove and replace all "O" rings. Lube with silicone grease for pools and reassemble.

I think this will fis you up.

Thanks for your question today.

SOURCE: While vacuuming my swimming pool

Try changing the setting on your pool filters control valve to waste. This will bypass the filter and vacuum directly to waste. If this works, it could be a problem with the filter's "filter" setting and you may need to service or replace your control valve.

How to Choose the Right Swimming Pool Filter?

how-to-get-pool-water-clear-green-oog1r0mxm0ji2zsjkiz1emnu-1-0.jpg
There is a lot of confusion about various filters, many different opinions, and several important facts to consider. The first is that a pool can be properly maintained with any of the filter systems available: Sand, Cartridge, or Diatomaceous Earth (DE). Here is a brief description of each type:

SAND FILTERS
Water is pushed through a bed of filter sand and removed through a set of lateral tubes at the bottom.
The filter area of a sand filter is equal to the area of the filter itself.
For example, a 24" filter will have 3.14 square feet of filter area. Only the top 1" of sand is actually used to filter the water. The principle behind this filter is that water is pushed through the filter sand, somewhat like an espresso machine. Dirty water goes in the top and clean water exits out the bottom. As the filter sand becomes plugged with debris from the pool, the pressure increases on the filter and the water flow drops. In order to clean the filter, you just run it in reverse and dump the waste water; this is referred to as "backwashing" the filter.

Swimming pool Hayworth s240 sand filter suction is wimpy can it be old sand causing the problem?

The filter may be clogged. If you have a multi-port valve that you use to backwash, set it to "recirculate" and see if your suction improves. If it does then the filter needs to be cleaned out. If there is no difference the issue may be a clogged impeller or some restriction in the suction line. Has the pressure been running high?

Labels Gone

I also have the same problem with the label on my filter. My pool dealership said I would need deal with Wicor directly. I see two other people with the same problem, however, neither has been responded to. It is VERY difficult to run your pool properly if you don't have your control lever labeled. An immediate response would be greatly appreciated.
