SOURCE: faulty goodmans 1104s dab player

In the lid should be a mgnetic plate that holds the disc to the motor spindle (much like slight pressure would). Inspect it to make sure it's free moving and seating all the way when the lid is closed. I had one unit where the spindle on the motor shaft had slid down slightly causing the magnetic plate to not seat down all the way. Also, if the magnetic plate is removable, try placing it on the disc with the lid open and bypassed and see what happens.

Hope that helps...

SOURCE: close door read out appears

You have a problem with the door alignment and the door switch.. The slightest movement triggers the door switch. You should have someone look at what is causing this issue.

SOURCE: Lid switch location??????????

I had a similar problem with my HP/Compac nc4200. Every time I had had the lid closed, the display would be black for a couple of hours, and then work again. I realized that the machine belived that the lid was still closed, and started looking for the lid-switch but I could not find it! The answer is that there is no mechanical switch! In the lid by the microphone (3 cm from the left hinge) is a small magnet hidden and in the base unit by the switches is a magnetic sensor (probably a hall-switch). Over time the the metal next to the sensor has been magnetized by the magnet enough to activate the swith even when the lid is open. The solution was simply to take a magnet and sweep it over the area a copule of times, and suddenly the screen came back to life! I am not sure for how long this fix works, but now I know how to fix it again.

SOURCE: door open display light is flashing when doors are closed

Check your buttons, levers, that are pushed in when door is closed, at your door posts. Use your thumb or finger and watch interior light go on & off as you push them in. If light flickers when in all the way, you found the bad switch. If they work o.k., check and see if maybe your door striker where door latch locks onto, needs adjusted in slightly to keep door tighter. Usually you can tell that if the door doesn't line up good when closed, with other door or rest of body. It will be sticking out slightly further.

Washer fills up with water but does not start to wash/agitate

if you don't hear the motor running you have a bad lid switch,if you do hear the motor but no agitation you have a broken motor coupling.
most likely you have a broken lid switch, close the lid, then open it around 6 inches, close it and open it a few times,as you do this if you don't hear a clicking sound the switch is bad, part number 8054980 and it's around 25 dollars.
watch this video, when you click on it look down on the left side it will say replacing new style, click on it and it will show you your will show you how to make sure it's the lid switch but if you don't hear any clicking when you open and close the lid the switch is bad, also if the lid is pushed in from putting the laundry basket on top of it open the lid and wack the center of the lid to pop it back up,i've done this before when the lid is dented in and this fixes the problem, the arm that's connected to the lid doesn't hit the switch correctly with the lid dented in but usually the switch is bad and needs to be replaced.
watch the first part of this video and it will show you how to open the top console, this is different from your lid switch this is just to get you into the top so you can change the switch.good luck,if you need anymore help let me know and i hope this helps you out

Good afternoon, for me problem with the washing-machine of Electrolux EWS 106430 W, can not include it the error of E40 (a door is opened) writes, although actually closed. That to do me? Thank you!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

There is likely to be a problem with either the lid/door solenoid/lock or the 'lid/door closed' sensor requiring a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Constantly getting an E40 error message and the machine won't do anything. Can you advise what the error is?

Knowing the make and model of your machine would help!!

This sounds like a Zanussi/Electrolux error code. If it is then E40 means "Door open, door interlock, wiring or main PCB"

I'll presume that you DON'T have the door open, so lets move on from there. There is a sensor on the catch when you close the door (Its the one that locks the door when you close it so you can't open it in mid cycle). It also checks if the door is closed so it can lock the door. It MAY be that a good slam of the door will fix the issue because the catch is a bit sticky.

Equally as likely is that at some stage recently you have already slammed the door, or the machine has had a very uneven load that has caused it to shake violently, making one of the 2 wires on the sensor fall off. This will also cause an E40 and is a not uncommon fault.

If the slam doesn't get you anywhere, have a go at the following:

I'm making a few guesses here as I don't know the specific machine

Take the lid off the machine (Usually a couple of screws at the back of the machine at the top, undo them then give the lid a sharp thump with the heel of your hand to push it forward or backwards (The way the lid was held on by the screws should give you a good indication of which way the lis comes off, it MAY even have a couple of screws in the side near the top, hidden under a couple of little plastic caps).

Once the lid is off, take a look at the sensor for the door. It is directly mounted around or on the door catch, so use the position of the catch on the outside of the machine to figure where it is - This is going to be a tight squeeze, it will be made easier if you tip the machine back by 45 degrees so the drup suts back in the chassis and gives you more room.

You should clearly see 2 spade tags on the sensor with a wire on a spade connector attached to each one. If one is off - good news - put it back on (You might want to give it a squeeze with a pair of pliers to tighten the conenctor up a bit so it doesn't happen again.

Reassemble - Job (Hopefully) done.

If the wires were in place and the door slam didn't work, it could be the main control board that is faulty. IF the fix above didn't work, you probably need to call out someone who can test and fix it.

I HOPE I Have the correct machine!!!

Scanner error 12 on hp laserjet m1005

When the lid or door of an HP Laser Jet printer isn't properly closed, the printer's display will read "Error 12." You can usually correct an "Error 12" by closing the printer's door securely -- a process which may require that you first fix the orientation of a toner cartridge so that the door can close. In some instances, an "Error 12" appears due to some other issue, such as a missing toner cartridge or a defective paper-feeding component.

Hi Good day. Here are the ways to install the ink in your printer.
1 Ensure the All-In-One printer is powered on.
2 Lift the scanner unit or access door (
The cartridge holder will move to the center of the Inkjet or All-In-One.
3 Press down on the cartridge carrier latch to raise the carrier lid.
4 Remove the used cartridge. NOTE: If you are removing both cartridges, repeat the preceding two steps for the second cartridge.
5 Remove the protective tape from the back and bottom of the new cartridge(s).
WARNING! Do not touch the gold contact area on the back or the metal nozzles on the bottom of the cartridges.
6 Insert the new cartridges into their respective carriers. The image at right illustrates inserting the color cartridge.
7 Close the carrier lids so that they remain closed.
8 Close the access door or scanner unit, taking care to keep your hands out from underneath the scanner unit as it is being closed.
9 On some All-In-One units, the control panel display will prompt you to load paper and print an alignment page. NOTE: The scanner unit must be closed before you can start a new scan, print, copy, or fax job.

Hello my friend. If you open the scanners door under the document cover is one switch that locks and unlocks the scanner.Move it to the position that shows that is unlocked. If this doesnt work it means the scanner lamp is in the park position and is stuck. You need to lean the printer away from the sheet feed side and bump it on the side. This should fix it. If it doesn't turn off the power and remove the two screws that hold the scanner lid on. Then remove the other 6 screws located under the lid on the left side while the lid is hanging from lid open sensor cable . After removing the base screws you can set the lid on the scanner again while you lift the scanner bed exposing the scan lamp mechanism. Push it a few inches in the machine and close the lid. You can do a test by powering the unit on and hold the lid open sensor button located on the bottom left of the lid. The system should initialize and bring the scan lamp back to the proper position. Turn off replace all screws and your done. If it doesn't work the first time push the scanner lamp more into the scanning area and repeat until works.

My washer wont agitate in regular wash mode but works in delicate

you will need to check the lid switch. its a switch that contacts when the lid door closes and releases contact when opens, try opening and closing the lid repeatedly you should hear a clicking sound like the switch contacting, if you dont hear it the switch might be bad, if you dont know how to fix it get a pro, and have them replace it or bypass it.
the swicth should be located at the back corner of the lid door, under the top panel, or on the side of the lid panel with the lid having a little pin hitting the switch.

good luck..........
