IKf you are meaning the speakers don't work when the headphones are pkuged it, that's the way it's supposed to work. If you are meaning the after you plug in the headphones and then unplug them the speakers still don't work, that means you either have a dirty headphone jack or the jack itself is broken.

Why is there no sound from my digital piano and what can I do about

First, re-initalize the piano. The instructions are in your manual or on the manufacturer's website. If that doesn't do it, try the headphone out. If the headphone works but the speakers don't it can just be a dirty jack. However, if none of this works the amplifier board is probably blown and you'll need a repairman.

Is it possible to disable the speakers on my Casio Privia?

YES. Either plug in headphones into the headphone socket. There should be a switch on the back which disables the speakers as well. A simple ON/OFF switch for speakers

Do you get sound through the headphones? If so, the jack interupt contact may be dirty or corroded. Some contact cleaner should help clean it up, then it is merely a matter of plugging and unplugging several times to make the contact for the speakers.

Other possibilities, the source is not set right, the volume is off, or muted, the "voice" ahs not been selected.- inother words a knob set wrong, or button pushed or not pushed. I am betting you checked those first thing, but should someone else reading this in the future read it, it might be something they have overlooked..

I have a Yamaha ydp223 which no longer makes any sound. I can hear sound when I use the headphones, but if I unplug them no sound can be heard.

There is a problem with the electronics between the audio supplied to the headphones and the speakers. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of circuitry between those. When you plug in the headphones, a switch opens that sends a signal back and forth to the DM board which changes and electrical relay that disconnecs the speakers. There could be any of several failure points on this circuit OR a failure of the power amp or audio to the power amplifier chip that drives the speaker. This is NOT a DIY repair unless one is adept at electronic troubleshooting.

It is NOT likely the keyboard is "killing the speakers"... OR the headphones for that matter.

I suspect the problem is bad switch contacts in the headphone jack that cut off the speaker line outputs when headphones are plugged into the pro keys. These jacks are, to put it bluntly, JUNK... they are EASILY damaged by pulling the cable plugged into them sideways. You will need to service the unit.

I have a Roland FP 1 digital piano, serial #AL21141N. It has gradually quit putting out sound through the speakers. At the onset of the problem, I could fit it by jiggling the 1/4" speaker plugs,...

I first would suspect the switches on the eadphone jack. Normally these cut off the speakers when headphones are plugged in. These jacks and the switches are really weak, poorly made, and easily broken, especially if headphone cord gets yanked.
