Needle thead isnt picking up the bobbin cotton

the first thing that comes to mind, is to refill the bobbin and then re-thread the machine. you have probably already done this, so next I'd check to see if your using the appropriate bobbin for the machine.

I am having problems with the hand knob & i can' seem to get it to work. So I can refill a bobbin thread.

If you can't get your machine to fill a bobbin, you can purchase a stand-alone bobbin winder at the local fabric store (JoAnn's and Hancock's usually have them or you can buy them online) for around $25. Makes it easy to fill bobbins and saves wear-n-tear on your machine.

Winding bobbin

The metal bobbin wind stopper beside the wind pin needs to be adjusted to allow the bobbin to fill completely. Be careful if you try to do this yourself as there is a nut inside the machine backing the screw. If you loosed the screw to far, the nut will fall into the machine and you will need to take it in for service:(

Threading bobbin singer athena 2009

Sorry... hate to say it but modern home singers are $%#&*@.

Have you tried a new bobbin? If the "spindle" spins... the bobbin should spin. Maybe your bobbin is busted or something?

Remove thread. Remove the needle plate. Turn hand wheel toward you. Rethread machine. Make sure presser foot in up position when you thread needle. Make sure needle all way up in shaft, flat side back and more rounded side facing you Turn hand wheel toward you again and observe the following: As needle comes down, make sure the needle's eye makes pass by the scarf of the needle. How do i refill a bobbin 7 thread machine

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} To wind a bobbin, guide the thread from the spool post to the small round tensioner /guide on the top of the machine.Wind a few turns of thread onton the bobbin.Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder post. Release the hand wheel and wind the bobbin as full as you like or until it stops. Remove the bobbin, place it in the bobbin case and insert the bobbincase into the hook.

Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.
