With kids I have dealt with this exact thing several times. I finally got wise and bought a cover for the last replacement keyboard I had to purchase. I got the one for my keyboard model at this website; It seems like they carry covers for almost every model out there. Good luck.

I presume you must have a laptop as a replacement desktop keyboard is really inexpensive. So each key on most laptop keyboards have a silicone or rubber cap under each key cap with a conductive pad inside that bridges and connects some contact points on the keyboard circuit board, when you press a key. So anywhere on the keyboard circuit board residue from say a beverage spill can conduct at various points and cause all sorts of strange keyboard behavior. So you could start by popping the non functioning key cap off of the keyboard and cleaning that key with a cloth and some isopropyl alcohol and maybe get a tiny bit of alcohol into the rubber key cap. You could remove all the keys and keep them in the precise order and try cleaning all the keys. By the way if your computers is very old, popping off the key cap can sometimes break the plastic parts from the plastic being brittle so be real gingerly and try not to break or even remove the underlying plastic hinged parts under the key cap Also understand assembling keyboard plastic parts and latching them back if they come loose can be quite tedious. If nothing works you can simply order a replacement keyboard from eBay by using your make and model of computer and changing keyboards is usually an easy job with a few screws underneath that hold the keyboard and you could watch a tutorial on YouTube on how to change the keyboard or find a friend or family member who is handy or just get a shop to do it and it probably would not cost a whole lot.

LG Xenon dropped in glass of tea.

So now you have "rice tea"? Try to recover it by opening it up and removing everything you can (battery, sim card, etc). Help it dry using a dry, clean source of blown air for 1/2 hour or so. Work the air around to blow out any moisture. Wait a day or so and do it again. Then assemble it and tell me and your friends if you liked the rice tea recipe.

You can easily fix your space bar. I fixed mine last month when my daughter pulled it out of the keyboard. I used this video tutorial guide to help install the space bar key back into place. Its really very simple. have a look:

My spacebar issticking.

Yup! you can do that.. carefully... i repeat, carefully pry-upward the space bar using a hard plastic card (I.D cards are best). Clean the hinge with a brush. Press down till you hear a click to return the key back to its position.

The space bar on my new MacBook Pro often sticks so there are no spaces between words. MacMall had me do something in the system folder on the keyboard - worked for about 15 minutes. AppleCare had me take...

Go to your local apple store. Set an appointment with the genius bar.

Tell them you want a replacement for your laptop.
If you're firm about it... but be nice, alot of times apple will replace your unit... Tell them about all your attempts, and failed solutions.
They usually will make good on this type of thing.

Let me know how you do.

Acer laptop spacebar fell off

The space bar key is connected tothe keyboard a little bit differently then any other key.
There is a metal retainer connectedto the space bar key (on some keyboard models). Separate the retainer from thespace bar key with a flathead screwdriver.
Install the retainer back inplace as it shown on the picture. You have to engage the retainer with thesmall hooks on the keyboard.
Put the space bar key back inplace and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.
That’s it. The space bar key isinstalled back in place and should work as before. If you still cannot fix yourkeyboard, then you’ll have to find a new oneand replace it.
Pleas rate my solution on fixya if you are done.
