Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player
If it never comes back up then the actual iPod has failed, most likely the hard drive. If you can hear / feel it clicking then it's definitely a dead drive. You can give Apple a call at 1-800-275-2273 to verify

Tips for a great answer:
There are many iPod error icons with exclamation marks
The Sad iPod icon ( ) usually means that the iPod can't access it's Hard Drive. I've seen that hitting the ipod on a soft surface occasionally fixes this. You may need to take the iPod for repair
The Folder Error icon () may mean the battery is low, the ipod needs to be reset, restored or needs a service
The Battery Icon () usually means the battery needs charging
means a disk scan failed and will be repeated when the ipod is turned on or reset.
Try restoring it continuouly until it does (eventually worked for mine)
if it is anything else, your iPod may need repair.
