If the antenna connection is poor, your TV will not detect all active channels.

Why will my new tv not pick up any channels when using the auto channel search

It depends on if you have cable or are using an antenna. If you have cable, make sure you have the cable that runs in between them hooked up to the correct spots. If you're using an antenna, you might need to get a TV converter box. A couple of years ago, they stopped making regular TV channels and switched to only digital channels. Most older TVs don't work with digital channels, so you need a box that will convert the picture. You can get one at any place that sells TVs (walmart, amazon, etc)

My element tv that claims to be digital and led will not pick up any of the new charter tv channels no matter what I do. It just scans and then finds nothing.

Make sure there is any signal form the cable. No signal, no channels.
Read the manual, both, from the cable company and the TV.

Program Blocked errors

I was having the same problem with the constant blue screen appearing with different error codes. Here is how I fixed the problem on my Elements 19": I did a channel search. I found there were 68 analog channels and 274 digital channels. On a hunch, I went into Skip Channels and checked off all the digital channels since I have basic cable. Although the tv is HD and did pick up the basic HD channels, I choose to skip those two since I do not have a cable box on that tv and only the basic channels were in HD (about 8). I watched my tv for two hours and blue screen appeared once every 30 minutes, but the next day it did not appear at all.

I concluded that those error messages are because those channels are blocked and we have not checked them off to be skipped. When checking the Skip Channels, as you highlight each channel it will either come in or it will not. You will find the "Blocked Program" errors are coming from channels that do not come in and you will need to skip those channels.

I hope you can understand how I solved my blue screen problem on my Elements tv. Good luck!

My Pioneer DVR-320-S tuner did not pick up the free-to air HD channels I can receive on my new HDTV. I am running the aerial through the DVD recorder to the TV. Can I run the aerial line into the TV and...

You might need a splitter (about 3 bucks at walmart) attach the Antenna to the side of the splitter with only one connection. Connect an RF cable to each of the remaining 2 connections. Run one wire to the DVR and the other to the TV. You can then watch one channel, and record on the other at the same time. You might not be able to record in HD if the recorder is not an HD recorder. Regular DVD recorders only record up to 500 lines, HD is rated at 720 or 1080 lines

My VCR not recording after the switch to digital tv signal

The answer to this question can get a little complicated. Lets tackle it in two parts. First the last part; the part about picking up channels as decimals. With analog TV transmission, it took the full television broadcast channel to transmit one standard definition TV program. The newer digital transmission system uses some advanced video compression and audio compression technology to reduce the data needed to transmit the pictures and sound which allows the same bandwidth to deliver either High Definition Television programming or MULTIPLE channels of Standard Definition programs. So in your example above, you use to watch one channel of programming on TV channel 4, but now the TV station can broadcast multiple channels of programming on channel 4, sot they delineate the programs with a decimal point. So 4.1 it the first program on TV channel 4, 4.2 it the second program on TV channel 4..... Well, I hope you get the idea.

Now for the hard part of your question. I believe that before the transition, even with your new digital TV, you were still enjoying the analog broadcasts from your stations. Your VCR picked them up and recorded them and your digital TV could tune them in and you watched as you had always done in the past. After the transition you noticed that your VCR could not record anymore and your digital TV had discovered the digital channels that replace the analog channels. To remedy this situation, your VCR will need the aid of a DTV converter box to tune channels, and you may have to reconfigure the way your TV and VCR are connected. The best resource that I can give your for the reconnecting is the website http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/converterbox_vcr.html. Element FLX 3210 not scanning for cable channels

YOU HAVE A BAD TUNER OR RF INPUT. IF YOU CONNECT THE CABLE TO THE VCR AND THEN USE THE VIDEO OUTPUT OF THE VCR TO THE VIDEO INPUT OF THE TV YOU CAN USE THE TUNER IN THE VCR TO CHANGE CHANNELS.
