Which way is the line oriented? If it's vertical, it's probably a scratch on the drum. If it's horizontal (and repeats at fixed intervals), its spacing will help determine the circumference of the part that is causing it. Contact the manufacturer or post more details here.

Black lines when sending faxes or making copies

I've been getting many calls asking me why their fax/copiers/printers are getting black lines when they send faxes and making copies while using the automatic document feeder, and not when they open the document feeder and use the glass.

What happens, when you fax or copy papers that has white-out or some material that can flake off, it gets embedded on the ADF glass and the unit thinks its part of the paper.

99% of the time, what needs to be done is to clean the small glass, usually using fingernails to scratch off the dirt, or using a lint free cloth slightly moistened, should do the trick. Just go over it several times until it comes off.

If the lines are thick, it usually indicates a damaged scanner assembly, in cases with the Brother machines, not expensive to fix. With other units, its a different story, either because they do not sell the scanner assembly as a part, or units are sent in for whole unit repairs.

Why is there a Black line on paper when using feeder on sharp copier?

The black line is a build up of dirt or ink on the glass where ur copier "sees" or reads the image that is being copied. Cleaning of the unit is reccommended and should fix ur issue

Black line on paper when ever i photocopy any document

clean glass - if only when copy from document feeder, check the narrow glass strip at extreme left side - use alcohol or window cleaner. You can place the paper with mark on glass to locate exact area to check

Our copystar is creating a dark line on the right side of the paper

There are a number of things that can cause this problem, below are a few things you can try.

1. Remove the process unit out as if you were going to remove a jam. There is a green piece of plastic used to clean the main charge unit. Slide it to the left then back to the right. Make sure it is seated all the way to the right in it's home position or it can cause black lines.

2. If you have a document feeder on the copier is the line only when using the document feeder?
- Determine if it is by making a copy from the glass.
- If it is only when making a copy from the document feeder then clean the small **** glass just to the left of the large glass. This glass is used only when making a copy from the document feeder.

3. If you wipe your hand across the copy and the toner wipes off then fixing unit should be replaced.

I hope this is helpful,
Shawn
