Have the same problem with an ACER Aspire 4530-5889 PC Laptop. The Crystal Eye Webcam is throwing a black screen. The suggestion sent to me was of no value. Please assist.

There is built in Acer Integrated Acer Crystal Eye webcam in your laptop.

Probably you have software disc who came with laptop in that disc you have software for webcam (Acer Crystal Eye)

If you don't have a crystal eye webcam shortcut on your desktop then do the following:

•Click Start (lower left-hand of screen)
•Select Run
•Copy and paste this in the Run window (include quotation marks):
"C:\Program Files\ACER Crystal Eye webcam\Acer Crystal Eye webcam.exe"
•Click ok

The Crystal Eye webcam will become activated

Yeah I've noticed many users of Acer's Aspire complaining same problem and i must suggest you to upgrade your software because in many cases Acer gave older version of app and its not compatible with their Crystal Eye webcam. So please go to acer's website & download their latest version of that software from there...

frist of all open a control panel and also open programmes then acer crystal eye webcam remove and then install a new software of acer crystal eye webcam and restart the pc and use

The first thing to check is if your webcam is working correctly. If you're running Windows XP, click on the "start" button, then click on "My Computer". Now double click on "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam". It should now show a screen with video from the webcam (probably of your face in front of the computer).

If you go to your start menu, look for a programme called 'acer crystal eye webcam' and that will bring up your webcam programme.
It is not in the folder 'Acer crystal eye webcam' though, just 'Crystal eye webcam'.

start \ all programmes \ Crystal Eye Webcam \ Crystal Eye Webcam.

If this proves fruitless, type webcam into the search option at the bottom of your start menu and look for the crystal eye webcam.

If these do not work, then look in your control panel to make sure it is installed. If not, contact company, they have a good customer service standard (from my experience)

Uninstall, then reinstall with latest drivers this will be where to start, is web cam attached permanantly? if not try it on another pc if it is try a usb web cam with your laptop. In other words try to do some trouble shooting to narrow down where we need to focus our attention to get you going again
