Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My tv scren has been shrink, how to return it to the regular size. thanks

Try:
Main Menu - Picture - Screen Settings - 16.9 Overscan - ON
This mode displays the image for 16.9 aspect and when on enlarges the image to hide the edge of the image.
Good luck.

Slight color changes on both sides of the screen

What you have , sorry to say is burnt CRT's this is caused by watching tv in the 4.3 mode , which shrinks the pic on both sides. so now the phosferous on each crt is only use in the center, that leaves the outer edges fresh and as new
There is no way to fix thin outher than replacing the crts sorry

Optimal resolution problem, edge of desktop outside screen

Your screen probably wont recognise the dvi cable if the dsub is plugged in, you will have to use the buttons on the monitor to adjust the settings to dvi rather than it automatically using the dsub. also, ever tried adjusting the aspect ratio? to make it shrink abit to fit your screen.

Picture and text extend beyond screen

Your tv needs to be put into service mode with the original Sony remote control and then set the vertical\horizontal size parameter to the correct values and then burn the new settings to memory
Google " sony tv service mode " and you should find the procedure. Good Luck! Write back if you have problems.

Tv has lost two outer sides of vision despite changing picture mode

That's either a high voltage problem, or a deflection problem. WARNING, CRT Based Televisions have potently life threatening voltages inside them, and should be serviced by trained personnel only. With that out of the way. According to http://www.repairhelper.com It's a capacitor failure Fault - Width and E/W correction fault Remedy - Replace R626 and C630 I don't have a manual so I can't tell you for sure what the resistor and capacitor do, or where they are located.
