Hello Jean Thomson,

There are several reasons air-conditioning could go on & off frequently.

Thermostats can be set with close degree function...

Assuming your temperature variances are of no importance
the THERMOSTAT can be adjusted to be less sensitive...

BUT BY FAR... the most common reason for rapid cycling
of the A/C are air leaks and poor insulation...

Your local UTILITY provider will likely have FREE (or very reasonable) thermal analysis - evaluation programs... wit supported contractor services to improve your INSULATION and reduce ENERGY CONSUMPTION.

Also you might need to consider that your A/C system is simply poorly engineered to keep your home at a comfortable temperature...

Again... there are SPECIALISTS who are capable of analyzing your existing structure... and recommending appropriate systems sizing to economically operate efficiently....

Nothing here for the uninformed noviciate... all highly technical.

Save money... Get a PROFESSIONAL ANALYSIS..

Hope this helps!!

Am I able to adjust the 'hysteresis' of my digital thermostat?

Some thermostats allow you to change the differential value - that is how far below the heating (or above the cooling) set point before calling for heat (or cooling in the case of air conditioning). The built in 1 degree differential setting provides the most even temperature in the space at the expense of more frequent furnace firing and stopping. Many people prefer this mode as opposed to allowing wider swings in temperature for less frequent furnace firing and stopping. If you wish to change this setting, you'll need to replace the thermostat as it is not user adjustable in this model.

I have a Samsung side by side model # SRS 632NSS. it is about 18 months old. The freezer side does not function but the fridge side is normal .We have tried turning it off and resetting it however it is...

Defrost cycle is very often. Check freezer timer/thermostat might be cuts off frequently. Check thermostat setting..Check fridge is working continuously until frosting over freezer by keeping thermostat at 9' clock position. If not replace thermostat.

Very hot water then it kicks off and I have to frequently reset

Even though the water is very hot do you run out quickly? If so the problem is the 'dip tube' if not it is most likely the upper thermostat.

I have JANITROL GAS FURNACE that the MAIN LIMIT

First, replace the limit. What causes a furnace to cycle frequently would be either a malfunctioning thermostat, a shorted thermostat wire, a bad control or the thermostats heat anticipator is not set right.

Honeywell RTH2310 thermostat temp variance

Hi,
Yes you can change that by change the number of cycles per hour that your t-stat looks from for youe furnace. Lower the cycles per hour number and it will increase the range.

You can see how to do it here

My thermostat went from cut on & off frequently to not turning on at all but it it works if I have it set to heat and switch it from Auto to oN. Is thermostat broken, it's only 2 years old.

Remove the red and white wires from the R and W terminals on the thermostat. Cross them together and wait to see if your heat starts. If it does, trash the thermostat. If it does not, you have a furnace or wiring issue.

My heater won't turn on. It is the first time we tried to use it since I installed the thermostat a few months ago. My husband turned the mode to heat and the fan to on. However, only cold air is coming...

you need to bypass the thermostat wire it jumper wires. in other words jump the wires till the furnace comes on. there are 18 volts at the thermostst. listen for it to click. and set fan to [auto] always

Honeywell rth230b won't shut off heat

Sounds like a relay sticking. Possibly in the thermostat or possibly the furnace relay at the furnace. The next time it happens, unplug the thermostat from the wall. If the furnace still runs then it's the furnace relay.

Hope that helps...
