SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-5990 Receiver

I JUST EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION HERE IS THE SOULTION YAMAHA SENT ME TO RESET THE SYSTEM HTR-5990 YAMAHA HTR-5990 FACTORY PRESET PROCEDURES All models require the STANDBY/ON button to be turned OFF to start the reset process. NOTE: The remote control cannot be used during the reset procedure. All necessary buttons to complete the reset process are located on the front panel of the receiver. This procedure is not intended to correct intermittent shut-off symptoms or problems MODEL: HTR-5990 (U.S.A. model/s) (BEFORE YOU CONTINUE, PLEASE READ THE ABOVE NOTES!) 1. Before you start this procedure, locate the MASTER ON/OFF button and the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button on the Front Panel of the unit. 2. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR RECEIVER’S MASTER ON/OFF HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. 3. With the Right Hand, press and hold the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button. With the Left Hand, press the MASTER ON/OFF button and HOLD both buttons for no more than “3” SECONDS, AT THE SAME TIME. SP IMP. * 8 MIN. will appear on the display, which indicates you are in the Diagnostics Mode. 4. Rotate the PROGRAM KNOB to the right (ONCE) until the display reads PRESET *CANCEL. 5. Press the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button (ONCE) and the display will change to PRESET RESET. 6. Turn the unit off by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. 7. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the unit on by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. You have now reset your component to the factory settings. NOTE: Yamaha receivers don’t have to be reset during normal operation. It is not recommended that you reset the receiver unless a setting has been changed that you are not aware of, or the receiver is not operating properly. The reset procedure will clear an incorrect setting that might be causing abnormal operation. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: technics hifi speaker cover

Hi There Elvis,

Obtaining the exact copy will be difficult...as follows---
The manufacturer makes production runs then moves onto the next model, only certain original parts are kept for spares then once these are all sold then the spares become obsolete..

There maybe different shades of colour on the speaker material
and it usually fades in use anyway from sunlight and other UV factors.

I would suggest that you make the repair yourself. The speakers them selves are worth saving so if you can ease the front covers of and work out how to remove the material 'matt'. There are curtain shops that sell material so you could go there and choose a material that tones in with your lounge colours and just
install the new material yourself....

The other alternative is to advertise for second hand speakers for this Technics model and replace the complete speakers cover fronts and all...you could watch the for sale sections alos on the internet or newspaper...

Cheers from YUBEUT...

SOURCE: Technics SH-AC300 Connection to Power Amp & Pre-Amp

Hi!
The problem is, that your SH-AC300 needs an amp with 5.1 input (but no decoder). For this purpose technics delivered SA-AX710.
So if you'd like to use your current equipment it would be impossible.
The only option is for you to buy 2 more Power Amps (SE-A900S), so that each of 3 amps would take care for one part of music. (one for FL, FR; one for RL, RR; and one for sub and center).
Another option is for you to buy SA-AX710. Then all the problems would be solved with it.

Denon receiver not working surround output

If everything is connected correct, the only thing I can think of, is you don't put in a surround signal. If you only feed 2 way stereo, only two speaker will work. Also if you switch to stereo, the other channels will stop working. Check the cables, the settings and the input.

When I hook up the rear speakers to my in-wall speakers, I can't get any sound. I have speaker button 1 and 2 selected.

Hi:
you need to clear that you connect wall speakers for font, center or rear (surround) speakers?
Seem you connect for Front speaker.
Rear (surround) speaker will have "rear" mark on the back of your reveiver.
In general you need to select both buttons 1 & 2 then check your speaker wires connect into "output1" or "output 2" hint: each output will have 1 for left and 1 for right speaker. Each Left or right speaker will have 2 connection 1 red color (+) and 1 white color (-). Try to match these colors code for your speakers connection.

Problem with speaker wires making contact in back of reciever on

Open up the receiver and check for poor solder connections @ the spkr junctions.

If you can solder, then solder a pin that is THICKER than the wire to it, the Bose wire is fairly thin and the spring clips don't clamp to heavily to thin stuff.

When you push the surrounds in you bottom them out in the connector. Having a thicker wire will eliminate the problem, use a piece of 12ga solid wire from house wiring. Make as many as you need and shrink tube all connections after soldering. Use White for + and Black for -.

are you trying to use the surround sound for movies or music ? , ive got the dvd version of this system (sc-dv290) and ive noticed the surround sound tends not to perform well with music , but sounds great with movies. i think its because the movies have dolby digital and music does not. The dolby pro logic in my opinion doesnt really make that much of a difference in sound unless the sound is cranked up past 44db on the amplifier. the only cables you need are the ones that are attached to the surround sound speakers and they cannot be removed so it cant be the wiring . I reckon you have a 1 - faulty system 2 - listening to music 3 - maybe not pressing the pro logic button on the sound processor. Hope this helps

Technics SA-AX730

The very FIRST thing to check is to make certain ALL of your speakers have an IMPEDENCE of 8 OHMS. Virtually all speakers of even modest quality will include this specification on a label on the back of the speaker. You CANNOT run more than (2) TWO speakers with 4 OHMs impedence on ANY amplifier (technical discussion too long!) [NOTE: Even though fused, your receiver has internal overload protection systems to prevent permanent damage. However, you cannot re-set these systems yourself. Your dealer or authorized service center must do this.] But, before you take it in for service, there is one more "test": check for shorted and/or mis-connected/disconnected speaker cables/wires. Visually inspect connections at the receiver and speakers first. You might find something obvious! If everything looks okay, then disconnect ALL of the speakers; and reconnect and test them one at a time (at relatively low volume.) For example, reconnect the left front speaker, test the system; THEN add the right front, test the system, and so on, ADDING one more speaker each time - FIRST MAKING SURE EACH OF THEM HAS AN IMPEDENCE OF AT LEAST 8 OHMS! IF there is a short (or bad speaker) this will help isolate it. Hopefully one of these "fixes" will work for you. GOOD LUCK!
