Tip

Region free code for Zenith DVD5201 DVD

Power on the player with no disk in the drive.
Press "PAUSE" on the remote.
Enter "3 1 4 1 5 9" on the remote (the word CODE appears on the display).
Enter "0" on the remote (0 = All Regions, 1 = Region 1, 2 = Region 2, etc.).
Press "PAUSE" on the remote.
Power the player off and then back on.

To play any region disc in these players shown below simply follow these instructions.
Open the tray, place an R1 disc on it but don't close it.
On the remote press 0, 1, 2, 3, PLAY.
The tray should then close, if not close it, and the player is now completely region free.

Philips DVP5140/37 disc tray won't open. Hello! I have tried unplugging from the power source and waiting 10 seconds as their website says to do. I hold down the stop button on the remote 5 seconds...

What could be done is to leave the set Switched ON for many hours even overnight and see how it can change if there is a possible fault on the motherboard, a change of value in electrolytic capacitors.
If there is no result then there is fault in the motherboard and you need to take consensus for an estimate.

The tray on player won't stay closed therefore I can't play a dvd.HELP

It sounds like there is something inside the dvd player, that isn't supposed to be there, that is keeping the tray from retracting fully. Try unplugging the unit and gently turning it upside down and giving it a little shake. Not too hard. This might jar the item loose, you will hear it knocking around. If you do knock something loose turn the unit so the front is pointing up and let the foreign object fall to the back of the unit where it hopefully won't interfere with the operation of the mechanisms inside. If you don't hear something come loose, remove the screws on the bottom, sides and back of the unit to remove the top cover. Make sure you have unplugged the power before you do this. take a look and see if you can find something jammed in the track or the gears for the tray. If you do gently remove the item with your fingers or a pair of needle nose pliers. Once removed replace the cover and away you go. If there is nothing blocking the tray and the mechanism, you probably have a gear system to close the tray. At some point someone must have pulled fairly hard on the tray causing the gear teeth to jump, check and make sure they aren't damaged or stripped. You are going to have to them either remove one of the gears (or pull it up so it can turn without turning any other gears) push the tray back into the fully closed position and replace the gear. Once you have done this you will want to test to make sure the tray will function properly. Place the top cover back on, but don't secure it with the holding screws in case you need to open it back up again, plug the unit in and test the tray. If it works unplug it and secure all the screws for the cover and away you go. Otherwise you are going to have to play with the gears till it is back in the proper starting position. If your hearing some strange noises and its not working, then the gears are probably badly stripped. You can contact the manufacturer and see if they can sell you some spare parts or direct you to someone who can replace it. Though at this point simply replacing the unit may be less expensive.

sometimes this hiccup happens when the disc drive needs to "reset".....if it's older than the warrantee and you won't need to send it to microsoft, open the case, unplug and replug the drive itself and close the case...worked for me.

I asked for free help in ejecting my cd from my Kenwood DV-505. I have already reset the microchip to factory setting and have unplugged it for 5 minutes and then simultaneously held down the open/eject...

Normally on the drawer that you use to put in the CD there is a very tiny hole, look closely for it. Take a paperclip and straighten it out, insert it into the hole and push. This should help open the door. You might have to pull the drawer out the rest of the way but you should be able to get it out.
