I am getting a 'no disc' message from my Blu-ray/DVD player but only on some discs - age & source seem irrelevant. eg I tried 'From Hell' recently but no joy, yet the bonus disc was fine. any ideas?

Does not play disc

1. No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
2. Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
3. Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
4. Disc type is not the correct type to play.
5. Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
6. Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.

You need to update your software. go to network update but you have to do it via your network it worked for me. Hope this helps

It's something about the Burlesque dvd. I have the same problem with mine when I try and play it on my Sony blue-ray player. It's the only disc I have that it won't play. Disc is a DVD Video disc but it will no't play in the Sony player. It plays fine on other dvd players and my computer, but not on the Sony.

power off your dvd, disconnect the plug from the power source and then reconnect it again. Power on the unit again and try to resume normal operation. If it cannot still play a dvd much less a cd, then you need to have it repaired. At the most, the flex needs to be replaced or your lens is damaged in which case it needs replacement. Try also locating for a reset button on your unit. Just press the reset button if there is one on your dvd player for about 5 seconds to restore it to its original factory setting

Are you playing original blu ray disc? Is your player capable of reading multi-format. Read your manual for troubleshooting. If that won't help. Try to play original blu ray or the ones that you have played in before. It that plays that means you have defective blu ray or unreadable format. Hope this help.

check with different Blu-ray discs and DVD discs. If the issue occurs only with some discs, then try updating the Firmware for the Blu-ray Player which should resolve the issue. Contact the Sony support team to get more information about the Firmware update for the Player.

i have a r136 , have you got the dvd discs u need ? i had the wrong format .

eg, dvd+rw needed dvd-rw

if not and there re-recordables they dont work after a few recordings and u need a new disc.
