Re: bought a new game and the PS3 is giving me no game...
If this is a ps2 or a ps1 game it may not be compadible. if thats not the case read below
there are 2 options in this situation. option #1 is if you bought it at a place like walmart or kmart then you can just take it back. if you cant take it back then go to option # 2.
1st clean your disk by following these directions.
clean disk with a soft cloth, lightly wiping from center outwards. do not use solvents, record cleaners, anti static spray or other chemicals.
then see if it works.
if that doesent work then take disk out and blow into the cd drive.
and if that dont work call SCEA consumer services at 1800 345 7669

Sometimes certain games just will not work. I bought a copy of Heavy Rain that did the same thing. I took it back and traded in for a different copy of Heavy Rain and it worked perfectly. Don't know what causes it, but it happens.
From looking around various forums it appears to be a problem starting the game. The advice given is;
1. try again (if it's only happened once or twice, it might self-correct itself.)
2. ensure your PS3s firmware is up to date (settings > system update - on the main menu).
3. delete the game data (go to Game > game data utility and find the problem game (if it is just one) - press triangle and select delete) - NOTE this is the games' install data and not the save game so you wont lose your progress.
Alas, none of the threads seemed to end on anything definite, so if none help (and i'd try them in the order above) then it may well be a 'contact Sony' situation.
hi i have the same problem with my ps3 60gb i rang sony and they told me to restore it so i did but it didnt work so then they told me to do a full system restore but just as i was about to confirm it i asked will this delete all of my data and they said yes and they told me how to save all my data (over 30 games of data) onto 8gb memory stick so i backed up all my data then i did a full system restore i am just waiting 3 hours. they said if it still doesent work they will send me a brand new 60gb ps3 so at the moment i want a brand new ps3 so fingers crossed mine is totally fu%&*d but i hope this helps everybody and p.s. dont try fixing this yourself because you wont ever get a 60gb again and you will have to pay a lot for a new ps3 and i might be getting a 60 gb ps3 for free :) h once i have restored it i will update you by tonight.
This is the error code for disk errors: "An error occurred during the start operation. (8001002B)". If the disc is clean, maybe the laser is dirty. Use a lens cleaning CD to give the laser a clean (cheap to buy). You can also try deleting the temporary game data (using Game Data Utility) and reinstall the game.
Did you try to reset you memory card that you are using? Sometimes even if we delete the other saved data in our memory and did not reset sometimes it didn't delete automatically that is why we need to reset it sometimes. Also try to see if your memory is enough to hadle the new game you bought.
If you bought another copy of the game and it happens at the same exact place it's probably because your game data has become corrupted. Go to GAME, then Game Data Utility folder, delete the Madden 09 info and see what happens. It's probably a good idea to do a backup first just in case this doesn't fix the problem.

Return the system now (you only have one year warrenty), if your expiriencing any issues. Just type in " ps3 not reading on search.com and you will find out why. Its a huge issue. If you still have your reciept, get a new one. Also sounds like you have a memory problem, so get the new system. It sounds like alot, but it will be worth it in the long run.
