Question about Lexmark X5650 All-in-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have bought a new Lexmark x5650 Printer. The setup all went fine but everytime i boot my PC running Windows XP the screen just hangs. When you take the USB cable out of the Printer the PC carries on booting. When you plug the USB back into the printer everything works OK. The Pc seems not to recognise the printer on boot.

It could be a driver issue. Try to uninstall any existing Lexmark X5650 driver from your computer first. Go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5600 Series Printer > Tools > Uninstall. Reboot pc when prompted.
When your pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit system type. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > Properties. Take note of the System Type. Then download the driver using the links below:

My computer won't boot up while my Lexmark X5650 is connected and turned on. Dell computer running XP pro. When I turn the printer off, it will boot.

Try moving the USB cable to another usb port. Ports can go bad; or if the printer interface is bad; it will cause this type of problem. If you want, you can try another cable too. In the end, you may end up having to replace the printer. But, certainly try another port first.

Installation of a downloaded driver for Lexmark X1290 All-In_One

Hi,

You need to download the Vista compatible setup here from Lexmark,

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:567:0:0&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista&target=

Run the setup after it finishes downloading but ONLY connect the printer to the computer when the setup instructs you to do so.
