In the print option on the iPad, you will need to see if it recognizes an AirPrint printer (which your xp440 should be). If the printer is recognized it should print.

Some newer printers will allow you to print to it via wifi. If your printer has this capability check your users manual or the manufactures website to get instructions to do set up.

Printer won't print

If your iPad can see other computers on the network but not the printer, try setting one of the other computers to share the printer and have the iPad access the printer as a shared device off of that other computer. We used to have to do this with for laptop on our home wireless network; we set one of our desktops up to share the printer so the laptop could find it.

How to connect iPad to wireless printer

what type printer do you have? you need a wireless router.
connect the printer to your wireless router via ethernet cable or wireless. after setup is done.connect the ipad to the same wireless router...navigate to printable material from the iPad, safari is easy just launch it.click the arrow in the top left corner of the iPad, print should be an option, click print.if you do not see you printers name thenyou should then see add printer, click itif the printer is setup correctly and is "air print" capable (wireless printing) you should see it as an available printer. its simple---- I wish this site did not suck so bad with uploading videos I would show you step for step.... more questions just ask
