Normally this is a problem with the HDMI cable. It is sending a garbled signal for some reason (could be a bad end connector or a broken wire in the cable) and the TV does not recognize it. The simple way to fix this is by replacing the HDMI cable. Answered from experience as I had this happen about a month ago.

Hi Tejinder,

There is a lot of variation in the HDMI cables available in the market. I also faced the same problem with an LG LCD and a Sony play station. I had an HDMI cord which I got with the HDMI converter fro the US, solved the problem. The other cords are working fine with the HDMI converter. I hope it helps.

Good Luck.

I plug my HP 2000 notebook into living room Vizio TV with HDMI cable, and no problems, the Vizio becomes the PC monitor. I plug into the bedroom TV (RCA) with same HDMI cable, and I get an UNSUPPORTED...

It's a resolution issue before you connect to your rca tv drop your resolution down on your computer and see if you can get a signal. When you connect the hdmi cable it should automatically adjust the resolution but sometimes it don't.

Thanks for your question sure hope it helps if not don't be afraid to ask for more help.

You need to put your a/c cables back in and put the tv on av in and then go to system settings and change the video audio to hdmi and then it will work.

Message of Unsupported video signal after attaching laptop to TV.

it sounds like the resolution the laptop is trying to send is not one of the resolutions that the television can display. TVs can display a range of resolutions, so try changing the laptop resolution, either increasing it (make the pixels smaller) or lower the resolution, try a variety of resolutions, one should work.

Why my hdmi cable keeps saying unsupported signal. check your device output

use a normal cable to connect to you tv and check the resolution that the hdmi is trying to output. if it wont display with the normal one then you will have to reset the video output system.
