locate the crankase cover to the left of the engine towards the lower end of the motor. if the bike has a center stand place it upon it t\and undo the crank cover once removed you will visually see the pulse generator it is like a large type style magnet. good luck

make sure they are tight
could be time for head gaskets
make sure the old gasket from the old filter came off the block sometimes they come off old filter and stick this causes a leak due to improper seal.

TO answer all your questions, the red oring is for the oil pump pickup tube, one bolt will fix that, RTV sealet is used in the seperation seams at the timing cover and rear seal retainer, 1/6th thick bead, 1/4" wide at seams, has for the trans inspection cover remove it for the repair, 5 bolts will do that part, and rear bracket, then the pan is ready to come off... dont know what happened here ,i did this ten minutes ago.o.k. if you look at the gear on the crankshaftnext to the lobe you will see a large dot near the teeth ,now if you look at the out sid of the camshaft you will see apointer like this V only pointing out ,put the point to the dot and slidde the cam in .. if the valvelifters are in the way and you cant get past them, you will need to take the rocker cover off remove the rockerger and pull the push rods out then you can reassemble it all ther tappet clearances are inlet .006 and the exhaust is .008 once you have it back together [dont forget the oil ] start her up ,when warm re check the tappets , and go and have a nice cold beer ,you deserve it any problems at all just come back to me... starving for fuel. the generator will always rev up when it is under a load or about to run out of gas. there will be a few adjustment screws on the carb... one for air and one for fuel. try increasing the fuel a quarter turn and see how that does
