Sounds like the switch nob itself is wore out. you may need to replace that assembly, not just the nob but that cluster that has the nobbs on it. good luck

My AC air registers only have air coming out of the defrost ducts

In every car, there are fins or flaps inside the dash that rotate that distributes the air flow from the blower to the desired opening, ie defrost, floor etc... This flap is controlled by a linkage which is connected to the selector switch. It may be the linkage is no longer connected, or the fins inside the dash are stuck. If the selector switch moves freely with little or no resistence its possible the linkage is no longer connected, otherwise the flaps need to be physically looked at.

The selector switch for dash air ,floor air doesn't direct the flow of air stays on windshield air only is there a relay or a diaphram problem?

Hi, sounds like a vacuum problem. When you select from floor to vent to defrost, the system uses vacuum from the engine to change over. If you look under the hood, near the firewall, towards the center, there should be small rubber vacuum lines. Check these lines for leaks with the engine on by spraying soapy water on the lines. If you see bubbles forming on any of the vacuum lines, this is where the leak is. Also check the vacuum lines going to the climate control unit inside the vehicle.

Ac and heat will not blow threw vents just floor and defrost

Sounds like your selector switch is messed up to select where you want the flow of air to go. When you turn the switch to where you want the air to go does it work on floor and when you turn the switch to vent it doesn't?

HVAC vent selector does not function. Air flow is

THe blend door seems to be stuck. When you change settings from defrost to floor air or, vent, the blend door opens and closes directing the air to the place you want it to go to. I have had some success spraying a lubricating oil such as WD40 under the dash on the blend door. You need to get under the dash with a flashlight to locate it. It looks like a flap. Spray it with a couple of shots of the WD40. Go easy on the spraying as you may be inhaling the fumes. Keep the doors and windows open to minimize the fumes. Wait about 1/2 hour and try the A/C functions. (defrost, floor, vent air)

Blower vents on 86 regal

The blend door in the heater box itself is what directs the air to where it needs to go as per selector switch. The heater box is located under the dash.
