SOURCE: pictures printing with stripes of color in some programs but not all programs.

Try new injet cartidges. If your printer has separate head and ink combo, replace the jets. The high quality mode operates the piezo jets at full power and lower setting can cause jets not to open as far. On some preinters, your particalar problem can be the result of too thin paper and the economy setting being used. Use 18lb or 20lb paper and see if it still does it on normal print mode.

SOURCE: Print quality

Paper type must be set to "Plain" to select Normal or Fast for Print Quality. Every other paper type selected will automatically set print quality to Fine (Photo).

SOURCE: printing is faded and too light

more important than all that nonsense is:
is it faint when you do an internal report or make a copy?
if only on copies it is the film on the underside of the glass.
if on prints and copies it is the drum.

SOURCE: Normal print results in a blank page

If you try and print a test page form the printer it will be light also. If this is the case you have a cloged cartridge. You can try to clean the cartridge, or replace it.

Hi . i have a ep1054 and print veri light , i want change to dark

Are you printing in "draft" mode? That is always light. Try "normal" or "quality". Also make sure you have selected the correct paper type. "Plain paper" is what most paper is. Photo paper is quite different, and photo paper setting will not work correctly on plain paper.

If copy quality is very dark then what to do for making it normal

The dark quality is definitely linked to a light intensity problem. If the scanner lamp is operating properly then check for any reflective surfaces near the scanning lamp and clean those. It only takes a light film of dust to make copies dark. Be careful around the lamp, it is delicate.

First of all check your printing preferences
  1. Right-click the product icon, and click Printing Preferences to open the Printing Preferences window.

  3. Check the paper or media type setting.
    1. Find the Type is: drop-down list.Figure 1: 'Type is:' drop-down list in the Printing Preferences windowc01855301.gif'Type is:' drop-down list in the Printing Preferences window, Paper/Quality tab (screenshot)
    2. Select the paper or media type you are using.
      • For thinner paper, select Light , Thin , or Vellum .
      • For thicker paper, select Heavy or Thick .
NOTE:HP does not recommend the use of heavily textured paper, extremely thin paper, or paper with a basis weight heavier than 90 g/m2 (24 lb).
  4. Make sure the paper or media type setting is appropriate for the fuser temperature.NOTE:Unlike ink printers, laser printers use heat to fuse a plastic toner to the surface of the paper. Make sure to use heat-resistant paper, and labels and envelopes that use adhesives compatible with the heat and pressure of the product's fusing process.
    1. If you are experiencing any issues in the following list, adjust the setting.
      • If the paper is curled or wavy , try the following:
        1. Decrease the fuser temperature setting. To do this, select Light ,Thin , or Transparency .
        2. Use the archive print feature to improve toner fusing. To do this, select Archive or Bond .
      • If the printout has areas of fuzzy or dark print , or toner scatter , increase the fuser temperature setting.
        1. Select Heavy or Thick .If this does not resolve the fuzzy, dark print, or toner scatter issues, use a lower basis weight or thinner paper.
  5. Click Apply .
Step three: Check the print density settingsFollow these steps to check the print density settings in Printing Preferences and in Properties.
  1. In the Printing Preferences window, click the Paper/Quality tab, and find the Print Quality section.Figure 2: 'Print Quality' section in the Printing Preferences windowc01855302.gif'Print Quality' section in the Printing Preferences window, Paper/Quality tab (screenshot)
  2. If you are experiencing any issues in the following list, adjust the settings.
    • If the entire page is too dark , change the dpi setting, and turn on EconoMode .
      1. Select 600 dpi from the drop-down list.
      2. Select the EconoMode check box.
    • If the entire page is too light , change the dpi setting, and turn off EconoMode .
      1. Select FastRes 1200 from the drop-down list.
      2. Clear the EconoMode check box.
  3. Click Apply , click OK , and then close the Printing Preferences window.
  4. Open Printer Properties. To do this, right-click the product icon, and click Properties .
  5. Click the Device Settings tab, and find the Print Density section.Figure 3: 'Print Density' section in the Properties windowc01855303.gif'Print Density' section in the Properties window, Device Settings tab (screenshot)
  6. If you are experiencing any issues in the following list, adjust the setting.
    • If the printout has areas of gray shading or a gray background , decrease the print density setting. To do this, slide the bar to the left .
    • If the printout has light, dull or faded areas , increase the print density setting. To do this, slide the bar to the right .
  7. Click Apply , click OK , and then close the Properties window.
  8. Try again to print. If these steps do not resolve the light, dull or faded issue, the print cartridge is almost empty. Skip to Solution eight: Replace the print cartridge .
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , see the next solution. If this don't help you, here is instructions for refilling a toner cartridge.

Maybe you need to clean the drum, blades or the developer roller. Maybe the problem is in the toner you use.

Everything seems ok on my printer but when try to print something it comes very light not dark enough

Generally one can set the "Print Quality" in printer "defaults" often they are noted as, Fine, Normal, Fast Normal, Fast, or similar... now that means the amount of INK on the page, the faster you go, the less ink... the less darker it is. Try setting your printer to it Highest/best quality setting see if that helps.

Can't figure out how to adjust darkness/tone for printer output

Hi,
Below you can see a step by step procedure on how to change the print quality of your work....you need to make test printouts in order for you to see the results....at the end there is a link to the manual for your printer...GOOD LUCK!!!

Print-quality settings affect print resolution and toner usage.
Use the following procedure to change print-quality settings:
1. Open the printer Properties (or Printing Preferences in Windows 2000 and XP).
2. On the Paper/Quality tab or the Finishing tab (the Paper Type/Quality tab for some Mac drivers),
select the print quality setting you want to use. The following options are available:
● 1200 dpi: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
● 1200 dpi effective output quality: This setting provides 1200 dpi effective output quality
using FastRes 1200.
● 600 dpi: This setting provides 600 x 600 dpi output with Resolution Enhancement technology
(REt) for improved text.
● EconoMode: Text is printed using less toner. This setting is useful when you are printing
drafts. You can turn on this option independently of other print-quality settings.

Lexmak x2500 way to light

If the printing is too light, it is the printing quality issue. Just goto Printing Preferences>Quality/Copies tab, select the Quality/Speed to Normal or Photo, and the Paper Type to Plain or Photo, then it may help your problem.
