Question about Sewing Machines

Homestyles sewing machine F08 702 H 01: Are they ALL caca, or just mine?

Bought it second-hand for $60. Can find little info online about it or the brand name. See lots of complaints about new ones missing parts out of the box. I find it LOUD and clunky, doesn't stitch a straight line. What did these cost new, and were they discontinued because they have problems?

No, didn't assume anyone is an idi0t. Just stating the facts. You're the one who suggested it is "caca" and apparently purchased it without any prior knowledge of the machine but is now mad at the world because it's a dog. Most minimally priced new machines are. Guess this conversation just proved it. FWIW, all the reviews and comments online are negative. Perhaps that's why there is no other information available...

You were not stating facts. I did not ask for opinions, I asked for information. I did not realize this forum required detailed stories of how a machine was acquired in order to receive assistance. Missed that in in the TOS. If you do not have the info I requested, please refrain from answering a question I did not ask. Thanks.

"I did not ask for opinions." "Are they ALL caca, or just mine?" You did indeed ask for an opinion but when it confirmed your own, you are angry because you feel you were taken advantage of (no matter, by whom or why) and want to blame someone. Since you found the reviews were poor, you knew the answer when you posted. According to online reviews and your own personal experience, the obvious answer is "Yes." Doesn't really matter "...cost new, and were they discontinued because they have problems" The fact is, you are miffed because you paid good money for a bad product and are hoping someone will assuage your own opinion. Hopefully, this posting will serve to help others who are attracted to a cute little sewing machine that ends up being a cute little doorstop. Everybody makes mistakes, but the important thing is what is learned and how one moves on. Nuff said...

If it was purchased second-hand, very likely something is wrong with the machine or the owner didn't know how to use it. It is always best to test and have the owner show you how to use the machine before purchasing. From the information found online, this is a very economical level sewing machine--even new.

JMHO, but purchasing an old mechanical machine from a sewing machine shop for $60 would probably yield a more reliable machine. For most sewing, a straight stitch and zig-zag are the most frequently used stitches. So, if you are unable to purchase an upper-scale machine with multiple built-in design stitches for several hundred dollars, stick with a simple mechanical.

Testimonial: "Did not answer the question I asked, instead assumed I am an id10t and lectured me on how to purchase second hand. You do not know exactly how I came to acquire the machine, so please keep your "HO"s to yourself. My specific question was about other people's experience with the machine. Thanks."

My sewing machine is not working. It quit a year ago. Model # F08-702-H-01. I don't know whats wrong. I was told it might be the foot pedal?? Where can I Find one for this machine

So, I was able to figure out it is a Homestyles machine? Please provide the symptoms. Does the light work? Is it frozen--the handwheel won't turn, does it stitch okay (even if operated manually), is the tension off, does it break thread? Give us some clues.

Hi...just bought myself a second hand Homestyles sewing machine. F08-702-H-01...How do i thread the machine....thanks. The thread breaks before I get to thread it

Change thread. It sounds like your thread may be dry-rotted. Otherwise, it could need some cleaning. Do you have a manual?

Hello i bought a shark sewing machine and it has no foot to keep the material in place

You can buy a low shank presser foot from an online site or I think that you can go to Sears and theirs will work also.

Cannot find user manual for Bernina Industrial sewing machine-just bought it second hand.

Hi. Try If you enter 'manuals' in the search field, it will give you a list of manuals that are no longer in print. Since you said you bought your machine second-hand, it is likely (but I'm not guaranteening it!) that the manual isn't in printl

Let me know if this works, ok?

Happy Sewing!
