SOURCE: bobbin tension and needle centering singer 2662

I would suggest taking it to a sewing machine repair shop. I would not mess with the bobbin tension yourself, have a trained professional do it. It also sounds like you may have some other problem going on with your needle, so that would be another reason to take it in. Good luck!

I have the vintage Brother Riviera 1681, Model F no manual. For STRAIGHT, needle sews only in far left position, but it zig-zags just fine. How do I get needle to middle or right position?

I suspect that the left needle position is the default for your machine. Looking at the photo here, it certainly looks like that is the case. (What a nice looking machine!)

Brother Riviera 1681 Sewing Machine eBay

If you watch this video during the straight-stitch segment, you will see the needle is in the left position.

Some of the older machines were made this way--I have an old Nelco that is left default--tough machine, sews almost anything! Unfortunately, if you want a center-needle machine, you would have to buy something else. (Forget about any of the new plastic machines on the market. This Brother will out-sew and outlast them any day of the week.) On the other hand, this is probably a great machine, and once you get accustomed to the left needle, you'll be able to do anything that a center needle machine can do.

FWIW, a sewing machine whose bobbin loads on the left is usually left needle default.

When trying to use the zipper foot the needle will not stay positioned to the side and keeps returning to center hitting the center of the zipper foot and machine stops

set the machine to straight stitching which should keep the needle in the center position
a zipper foot is a normal foot with 1/2 missing
It it still wanders , take it in for a service

When trying to put the needle in the far left position an error or fix it pops up

I think the needle mechanism is out of adjustment. In the center position, is the needle centered over the hole in the needle plate (check with a plate that has the single hole for straight stiching, not the slotted hole for zig-zag sewing). Take it to a professional for a tune up.

Where has it been for ten years? This could have a big affect on an electronic sewing machine.

Take the machine in to a sewing machine shop for service.

I have a new Singer 1507 sewing machine- needle position wrong

Turn the big knob on the right of your Singer 1507 machine so that the vertical stitch line in the center. (Currently your machine most likely has the vertical stitch line to the left.) Don't push your needle manually; you will damage the needle.

Needle postion

If you mean left or right with a straight stitch, then yes. You use the stitch width selector - you will notice a small raised section in 3 locations, they mark, far left, center and far right.
