SOURCE: bobbin cover door is stuck on Bernina 930 Electronic, and won't open. Can you help me?

Tricky !!! I dont know why the door is stuck, but its possible that the spring-loaded plunger in the top of the bobbin door is stuck into the cover of the free-arm. If there is suficient gap between the top of the bobbin door and the free-arm cover, you could try sliding a thin piece of metal or a very small flat-bladed screwdriver between the two, in the dead-centre of the bobbin door - that's where the plunger is located. By gently manouvreing the screwdriver in, you might be able to release it - be careful, because it's possible that the retaining circlip has dropped-off the bottom, in which case, the plunger and its pressure spring might fly out when the bobbin door opens. If that doesn't work, you could try unscrewing and removing the stitch plate and, again, with a small flat-bladed screwdriver, see if you can release the free-arm cover catch that's next to the top-left-hand-side of the bobbin door, but that's a very risky approach, because the feed-dogs will be in the way and you dont want to mangle any of the hook/shuttle parts etc. You need to find out why the bobbin door is not seated properly - it may be that the bottom hinge that also carries the hook/shuttle retainer has come out of the left-hand hinge mount in the free-arm. Good Luck.

Since you just had it serviced, you may want to contact the technician to ask your question. Perhaps something was missed during service or there is a simple answer.

Gears stuck message but gears not stuck

This message is often the result of people trying to close the bobbin door too quickly before the bobbin / hook mechanism has swung in properly. There is a complex system of gearing called the 'console motor / gear' that does all the clever bits like swinging the bobbin out, dropping the feed dogs and operating the bobbin thread cutter and this can get dislodged. Switch the machine off and open the bobbin door. Above the black plastic cover for the rear of the hook mechanism, you should see a small latch which is operated by a mechanism that slides left-to-rightacross it. Check that the 'pip' on the sliding mechanism has not overrriden the latch and is on the outside of it. If it is, you can sometimes carefully push it back to the right-hand-side of the latch and all will be well, however what frequently happens is that the 'drive' end of this mechanism gets dislodged from the console gear and its then a dismantling job to put right ... dont mess about with 820's they are very difficult to set up !!! Something else to try, is to remove the needle and bobbin, switch on the machine with the bobbin door open, then close it and open it again and see if the hook mechanism will swing out. Also, again, without the needle fitted (very important), try rotating the handwheel backwards, but if you come up against any resistance, STOP ... the user manual is incorrect in its advice where it says " use considerable force" - this is an error in translation and I've already had one customer who did 400 pounds of damage in following that advice.

Im trying to put back my bobbin in a bernette 60 for bernina

The bobbin you just thread in the bobbin case and pop it back in with the tail pointing up. Now if you are talking about the hook and race cover I'll go over that aswell. The hook is the 1/2moon shaped part, put that in first, it goes opposite of the other 1/2 moon part already in there. Next put the round part over it(race cover). It goes on with the to demples to the inside and the flat part up. Then flit the tabs on the left and right over the race cover. Hope this helps

How do i use the zigzag stitch on my bernina 830

Hi, open the top cover and if you watch what goes on inside from the top when you move the top change lever you will see part of it goes through a fork or U-shape part. This part is probably stuck and needs some oil. After oiling and working it back and forth a bunch eventually it will start snapping into the notches its supposed to. I beleive then you will have your zigzag back.
Either that or you have the stitch width set on zero.

The needle thread will not pick up the bobbin thread

It looks right but its not. Try looking on the internet for threading instructions. The bobbin winds in two directions, I have never saw a Bernina but I have 2 new machines and the thread goes in and then threads back to the left. Its hard to describe. But if the bobbin isn't right it will not pick up the thread. Write to Bernina for instructions. There are websites that have the directions for free.

Bernina 180 Bobbin case spinning

Its called the bobbin stopper. Pop off your needle plate by pressing on the marked corner. In the back on the left you will see a small allen screw which must have come loose. Position the bobbin stopper in place and tighten that screw. If it already is tight, loosen it and reposition the bobbin stopper in the notch and tighten it back up.
Good luck.

G'day.
Firstly, dont flood it with oil - it will end up making a mess for you!
What I'm going to tell you is basic, but work thru it.
1. take out the bobbin case and swing the two latcjes to the side so you can remove the hook. Inspect the point VERY closely. should be sharp and absolutely smooth. ANY burr or nick MUST be removed. (have you broken a needle recently??)
2. Lay the mahine on its back, refit the hook and lock into place. Put in a BRAND NEW needle With the bobbin case still removed and the machine turned ON and in MAXIMUM Zig Zag width, turn the hand wheel in the direction it normally rotates - towards you. When the needle swings to the Left and is on its wasy UP, the hook point must pass behind the needle a little before the eye of the needle reaches the arc that the hook point travels thru. Same on the Right swing. If it does, GOOD.
3. Wind an empty bobbin with GOOD QUALITY THREAD. It should wind on reasonably even and TIGHT. When you push your fingernail into the thread it must NOT be spungy. Insert bobbin into bobbin case (IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION). Hold the tail of the thread and allow bobbin case to dangle, it should not drop down until you give the thread a little jerk. It should drop a little then stop. Insert bobbin case into machine, thread top of machine CORRECTLY. Set top tention to normal, test sew.
Let me know how this goes.
