Ipad is awaiting iOS update but when i try i ok the Ts and Cs but then get the Message 'can't connect to Internet' but iPad is connected and can do google searches. Update fails. Any suggestions?

Have you tried restore it

Go to settings and then wifi if it is off switch it on and then select your wifi router and enter your password

I was very happy when I got my hands on the new iPad. I assume you did reboot. After that I would try to update again.
