SOURCE: printer cover open error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.

It worked for me.

SOURCE: my mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed

I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.

The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

For this error message the main cause is documents remain in the ADF.
Press the OK button to eject documents and press the Stop button to stop ejecting. To continue scanning, operate on the application. The scanning from the ADF may not be supported depending on your application software. For details, refer to the instruction manual of your application.

SOURCE: Just bought MX870 and put

The two covers on top are just not aligned properly. Open both top covers (one opens to the right one to the left). Close the cover that opens toward the right 1st (you should hear it click into place) then close the second cover. Press "ok" should be good to go.

Why does it say the document feeder is not closed

one of the covers that you can open is not seated properly so a sensor is not being told to turn off, maybe a plastic tab that is use to accurate the sensor is broken or the sensor is bad.

Message says COVER OPEN CLOSE COVER but the cover is closed

The problem could be due to the printer cover sensor getting stuck or the cartridges in the carrier. Please follow steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris in the feeder.

2. Open the printer cover and remove both the cartridges.

3. While the cover is open, ensure there are no paper jams and the cartridge carrier is free from obstructions.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for errors.

8. If no error appearsl, open the printer cover and reinsert the other cartridge. Check for errors.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

10. Load some paper. Try to print again.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

I keep getting a close feeder error on my Km Kyocera 1530,how do i go round it

Assuming the feeder is closed and you are still getting the message to close feeder the one of your interlock switches are bad or not making contact.

Each cover that open and closes has a switch to indicate it is closed. Make sure when you close the cover the switch is being actuated.

To find the switch open a cover then start to close it and look for a piece of the cover that is going to line up with a hole in the feeder when it closes, this is normally where the switch is.

If you have a multimeter and know how to use it you can ohm out the switch to make sure the switch is working.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but this machine was not manufactured by Kyocera (it was just sold with their name on it) and I am not overly familiar with it and the documentation is not very good on the machine.

Keeps saying close document feeder cover when its not!! Is there a sensor somewhere that needs cleaning or something?? Or has it come to the end of its life???

The sensor for that is in the back left corner, there's a plastic piece that fits between a horseshoe shaped sensor down near the hinge for the cover. If the plastic piece is broken you can place something in the slot and it will think the cover is closed.

Cover door for document feeder not closed

possible cause is that you have broken the DF door tail that senses the door closed. Check by opening the cover you should see a slit with either a switch in there or a light sensor. Push the switch down using small flat blade screw driver or if light sensor place a folded piece of paper in the gap.

Either one should then recognize that the door is closed.

Hope this can help and if this does work will need to replace the door.
