Open Question

My Mr Heater 125,000 kerosene heater lights but does not burn smooth. Lots of white smoke and builds up unburned fuel and drips/sprays out the front. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

SOURCE: air fuel mixture screw adjustment, forced air kerosene heater

Most ready heaters have a fuel pressure setting on the back of the heater near the fan. There should be two small plastic covers, looking directly at the back, the one on the left can be removed and a pressure gauge installed. The one on the right is slotted for adjustment of pressure. I think the correct pressure for that model is 3.0 lbs.

SOURCE: Mr Heater MH75KT - won't start with diesel

If the MH75KT is the correct model, then it is a Kerosene only heater. Fuels, like oil and diesel all have different ignition points.

SOURCE: Heater won't fire

place some kerosene into a small bowl, then place the fuel line drictly into the bowl . this way you can tell your getting good fuel. if no fire try removing the fuel filter. my filter was bad on mine i turned my upside down and it fixed it. its a in line filter.

the first thing you need to do is go back to useing K1 kerosene, diesel fuel not only burns dirty but also has a tendency to gel up in cold weather which could be makeing it hard for the heater to draw the proper amount of fuel. To reset the pressure you will need a gage, it should run at about 6-7 psi. you can order a pressure gage from mr. heater online, they are by far the cheapest I have found as they are the actual manufacturer or call 1-800-251-0001

I have a Mr. Heater 125,000 BTU contractor series shop heater and it started surging spurts of flame rather than run smoothly.

You may have contaminants in the fuel, such as water. Fuel that sits in gas cans can sometimes have condensed water in it. There may also be something that has clogged teh fuel flow.

My ready heater 100,000 will run for app. 5hrs then flame out and blow smoke or unburned fuel the same several times pressure is right

If the heater continuously has a 5 hour run-time check to see if the fuel pickup tube goes to the bottom of the tank. If broken, cracked, or shortened the fuel will stop being picked up when air is sucked rather than fuel.

well for one it should have (kerosene) in it and not diesel. two you need to clean out the pump and lines as well . it should have a spray pattern, not drips. sounds like wrong fuel and or not enough pump pressure.

Dyno-Glo RMC-95-C7 kerosene heater. replaced wick

once the tank gets low(on E) put the heater outside and let the remaining fuel burn completely out. This will burn off the residue build up on the wick and make it easier to turn off manually. do this often. i also use an old toothbrush to "fluff up" the wick. if the residue is too hard for the toothbrush bristles, flip the toothbrush over and break up the residue with the back side of the toothbrush. once all (or nearly all) of the residue has burned off you may see some smoke when you ignite the wick again. also, it may smell for a bit. I always light and shut off the heater outdoors. I mounted a dolly (table withe 4 wheels) under the heater to make transporting it easier. hope this helps!
