Question about The Toys

Open Question

Purchased a 12v fisher-price escalade and it goes in low speed, reverse, and high speed reverse. Flipped the white plastic switch connections- no luck. Possible they wired the connections incorrectly?

SOURCE: I have a Power Wheels

The switches are known to be bad on these Power Wheels. A lot of people just get a new three position switch from the hardware store and replace the switches. You can go to and type in power wheels switch and find the one you need and order it. Either way, your problem is the switches. Both the forward and reverse and the high and low. Not the gas pedal plunger.

Does not operate in reverse

If the vehicle will not go in reverse, but works in both low and high forward speeds you most likely have a bad shifter switch.

The shifter switch is only available in a shifter assembly found here:

Replacing the shifter should get your Power Wheels running correctly.

Thank you,

How do I switch from low to high speed on a Jeep Hurricane. Shifter won't go into forward slot.

I have NO CLUE but it bet its a simple piece of Chinese plastic. Look down at the shifter, USE screw driver to remove shifter, remove Chinese plastic blocking the shifter from being pushed into HIGH by young child. Reattach shifter, push shifter forward to HIGH.

Jeep goes faster in reverse than foward

The shifter has two switches that it operates. Reversing the connecting plug on one of the switches will most likely solve your problem. It worked for me. The casing of the shifter should have a label "white" by one of the switches, leave that one alone, rather flip the plug going to the next one.

go to battery compartment, youll see another plug up front by the front of the seat, plug it on and presto! use the pedal along with the throttle and youve got high gear..simple as that.

Problem #1:If you have taken the high speed safety device off the stick shift(small red plastic block screwed on below the yellow stick shift housing) then your high/low speed switch has gone out. There are two motors(one on each back wheel) that both have to come on when in high speed. Only one comes on for low speed. It is the switch under shifter that is not spring loaded. hi/lo switch #MEPU0002 available at for $11.00 plus $2.00shipping That is where I got mine.
Problem #2: Sounds like you need hi/lo switch and possibly forward/reverse switch too. Before buying forward/reverse switch try putting a little grease on the white plastic assembly that engages the forward/reverse switch between the top piece and the piece that pushes down on top of the switch. Sometimes they just stick enough to stop switch from depressing. It is the switch under shifter that is spring loaded.Forward/reverse switch #MEPU0003 $11.00 plus $2.00 shipping
